Do you like it when people are not afraid to reveal their insecurities or vulnerabilities?

This might just be me but i really like it when a person is so real around me that they are not afraid to reveal they’re insecure or vulnerable about things. Makes me see their humanity come out and allows me to empathize with them more. I also tend to respect people who aren’t afraid of showing them either.

Examples can include: dudes expressing more emotions than they usually do and aren’t shy with them, people getting emotional over movies or tv shows, unafraid of admitting their vices, people admitting what they’re afraid of, general faults they know they have. Just things that might open them up to judgement by people but not caring if people do judge them if that makes sense.

now it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t work on them and try to improve but in general i just like people being themselves completely around me.

why should people reveal their insecurities or vulnerabilities? there is no gain from it... being aware and working on them - yes... revealing them to the public? no... too many people who could use it against them...

and it isn't about me liking it or not... I have no say in other people's decisions...

Because why hide them in the first place? Why be afraid? And if people do use them against you you cut them out of your life.

I prefer to be safe than sorry... you never know WHO will use things against you and what damage it will do to you, your loved ones, and your whole life... and people you work with aren't people in your life, but they can have a tremendous impact on your life...

so no, I'm against making sensitive information public

Well don’t reveal other people in your life im not talking about that. I also am not talking about giving people your passwords to stuff or something. I just mean your overall personality. I just don’t see why anyone should hide who they truly are. If people hate you for that then fuck them.

let's say you have a problem with emotion control... would you show it to your boss or peers at work? it's a part of the overall personality... but not a helpful one :D

I also said at the end it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t work on them. And ill grant one exception in the work place because of possible consequences there. But anywhere else… just be you. You got emotional problems? well so do a lot of people. Its being human. Sometimes humans need to express emotions. If i were that persons friend i would hear them out while encouraging them to work on how to control them better.

Not sure why this is do controversial to say lol.

there are more places with possible consequences, so if there is something to work on, people should focus on working on it

yes, I was born autistic, but does it mean I should proudly wear social awkwardness and share it with everyone around me? no, definitely not... even if I'm smarter than most people, should I proudly tell everyone? not really :D

let's say my childhood was challenging, and it left some scars and not really socially accepted behaviors, should I treat other people the way I was treated as a kid? I don't think they would be happy :D

so again, no, I don't agree...

Im not saying what ‘you’ personally should do but to this i say yeah. I know people (irl and online) who do proudly proclaim their autism and i just have nothing but respect for those people.

“even if I'm smarter than most people, should I proudly tell everyone?” you probably shouldn’t say you’re smarter than most people but if you are very intelligent it will come out for people to see. People shouldn’t hide their intelligence.

No you should instead work on those things but the way you treat people will come out eventually. Hiding it will only prolong the inevitable of people rejecting them.

I say cut out the hiding part and let the chips fall where they may.

If you have bad personality traits in general society will let you know. At that moment that person must make a decision, change who they are or don’t and deal with the consequences of a lot of people not liking you or wanting to be around you.

it's not about proclaiming... I openly say I'm autistic... but at the same time, I DON'T make people around feel uncomfortable with asocial autistic behaviors I got as a bonus :D

fortunately, good therapy does wonders :D so no... I don't do it to other people, and it doesn't "come out"

Well good but telling people you are autistic does allow others to decide to stay around you or not. And im saying if some choose not to then so be it. Thats basically what im arguing here. You should probably control uncomfortable behavior but the explanation ‘im autistic’ allows people to understand when such behavior occurs.

Which is good that you were able to A. Recognize you got some issues before others tell you they are bad and B. know to seek therapy for them.

A lot of people fail to do either of these things. I still say be who they are and society tells them whats bad or not bad. Thats when you make your decision as i stated above.

Ok for kids this is a bit different but I would still at the very least encourage them to be who they are. Any bad moments happen you treat that as a ‘teaching’ moment.

As adults though one must realize that people are gonna not accept you whether you hide your personality or not so I argue be you and let others decide truly. The ones who still stick with you despite that can be your true friends.

I'm absolutely ok with it as long as the person doesn't let their insecurities control them. Sadly our insecurities can being out the absolute worst in us if we are totally controlled by them.
