What's your thoughts on me carrying a gun?

I applied for a part time security role while hoping the tech industry recovers. I am going to admit, I do LOVE my uniforms. Anyways, this role may entail carrying a weapon. It made mentions of possibly being able to carry a weapon, but it wasn't clear whether this was an armed or unarmed role. I assume if I need to be armed, they will put me through more extensive training.

I have been involuntarily hospitalized before, but I am going to keep my mouth shut and let them run a gun background screening. If no red flags show up, I am going to opt for being armed

I guess it depends on what you're being a security guard for. When I was one, I mostly did overnight gigs in various places. We weren't allowed to have guns. That was cool with me, I didn't want one!
One just had me make rounds in a huge lumber yard kind of deal. I spent the bulk of the night inside a kind of cubicle listening to the radio or reading.
Another had me at some kind of factory where I just sat in an office and read magazines that I brought with me. I collected Chris Miller stories to bind together in a set of four books so, if I found one, I'd make use of their Xerox machine to make a copy.
The last one was at a huge new school being built and I was inside a kind of trailer on the grounds all night, making my rounds every hour, as usual. Minutes before going home one morning, the Captain popped in and saw me out of uniform (I just took off my jacket not long before he showed because it was getting hot in there) and he spotted one of our log sheets that I was using to write a Chris Miller-like story on and he didn't like me using it for that so, he fired me! Picky, picky, picky!! It wasn't that great of a job, anyway.
Anyway, if they allow you and you're okay with it, go for it.

That might be one of those things where it would be beneficial to ask for clarification, rather than just assuming.

You're not even certain that you will be allowed to carry a weapon, and if so, whether that means something like a nightstick, or a firearm. There's obviously a pretty big difference there, and the kind of thing you should know for certain before moving forward.

Also, depending on the company, they may train you in the use of a firearm, but not necessarily. If you are allowed to carry one, and they don't train you, you could end up being a danger, not only to others, but to yourself, as well.

These are things you should be asking them.

Was this for a mental illness? I'm not gonna judge for that, but I'd be surprised if you passed a background check. I suppose it depends on the details. It might even prevent you from getting an unarmed security job.

It was for mental illness, actually numerous times, but I. am going to try to keep my mouth shut. It may or may not show up.

I don't have to lie on anything, just not volunteer information. Plus, if it is am unarmed role, it is fine, because mental health records would only show on a gun background screen.

I don't know where you are from, but I think they will ask you about your criminal and mental health background. So not volunteering probably won't be an option. And it's not the kind of thing you should lie about.

It might depend on the company, but I think it's likely that they will do a background check even for an unarmed job. Places do background checks for everything these days.

Don't get me wrong. If you want the job, go for it. You'll know if they do a background check because you have to give permission for them to do it.

I carry everyday everywhere. It’s my right and I live in a state that lets me carry. If you’re legal to buy a gun you’re legal to carry it. Long guns just have to be on a sling and you can carry more than one

Nope. I am Americans FIRST. The constitution is for US Citizens, not for the rest of the world to take advantage of us. The Xiden regime caused so much hardship on me and placed undue financial stress on the rest of my family. I am tired of funding fraudulent initiatives in other countries. Sesame Street for Iraq? You have to be shitting me. Meanwhile, families here at home are struggling to afford rent amd basic essentials.
