Your better judgment can betray you and you can end up doing something extremely stupid and regrettable later.
Keep your gun or guns in the car or house and only carry them if you suspect you might need it in certain situations.
People who have been given the "Legal Okay" to carry them lawfully have had to take classes to ensure they know what is and is not legal to Do with a firearm. Also where you can and can not go with a licensed firearm. Basic I guess you could say "Rules/operating procedure i. e. A situation that it is okay to draw your firearm. Example somebody comes to you and says yo Mamas so fat she play po with the planets! You can't just say ohhhhhhhh I'm mad! Oh yeah I have my legally licensed firearm here with me. So you shout hey Mr. Mama Insulging guy you hurt my feelings and angered me greatly! Say hello to Mr.357 magnum BAM BAM BAM. It would never happen... well 99.9999% would not happen. Nomatter what your Dad told you, or what you read on Reddit or Google or YouTube. Tbere is No person in all 50 states that go into a store and say hey I like that Desert Eagle.50 cal ! I've got $3,000 and you've got a gun. Lets make a little trade. Sell me that gun! Storeowner won't just say yep that'll $2995 sir ! Would like paper or plastic? Nope ugh uhh he's going to hand you a form to fill out that basically goes to the good old (F) to the (B) to the (I) or the Federal Bureau Of Investigation. They will make sure you have no mental illness, Terrorist warrants, Red Notices, Felonies, Dishonorable Discharge, Domestic Violence convictions. And whatever you do don't just think Ahhh I'll just say no to that Felony when I know I've done time for 2 felonies already. No biggie! They won't know just a little white lie. Trusy me it won't end well for you compadre' but I'm rambling and this is already longer than I planned, but nomatter what "People say" or "Oh well I heard" or "Oh they said" or what The view, CNN, Politicians, Facebook, your friend who is a very politically active person who knows all about this stuff and his uncles great step grandfather Nephew in laws sister was a cop once In 1973 so they know all about it! You cannot (LEGALLY!) as a FIRST TIME GUNOWNER WITH NO BACKGROUND CHECK, NO WAITING PERIOD, NO MANDATORY CONCEALED CARRY CLASSES. Simply go to the stores , to the gunshows,
to a Walmart, to a Dicks, to an Academy sports and outdoors and just say gimme a pistol, AR-15 today! I'm big mad in the middle of a serious tantrum so Ima go and take some peoples out. They will promptly hit you with the ol sorry Captain Angry Pants but there is a Mandatory 72 hour wait for people like who just so happened to also be big mad.
It's wise. People who let "the heat of the moment" cloud their judgement on the deployment of lethal force simply have no business with ever owning a gun to begin with, period. It shows lack of impulse control and thus lack of maturity. I've carried anytime I've possibly been able to. I've carried to work, to the park, the the store, etc. The idea is to be prepared for anything. I carry a gun like I wear a seatbelt. If for no other reason it's just peace of mind knowing I'm on at least a similar playing field as the criminal element. A man has a duty to his family and to himself. Know your laws, know your gun, train regularly, take extra courses as needed, be as proficient as humanly possible, and carry on. If you carry a gun pride isn't a factor and thus "hear of the moment" doesn't apply. If someone runs their mouth you keep your head cool and walk away. Actually weigh your options and decisions and don't be a fool. The time for such actions ended when you left high school. Adult up, know when to bite your tongue and just go about your business
Perfectly stated. Thank you for saying this. I fully agree.
I’d add anyone who would seriously gun a person down over an insult is psychotic. To take a persons life on impulse because he called you mean names and wounded your fragile ego? Anyone who would do such a thing has a serious problem with their reasoning and a serious problem with their soul.
I'm not sure how it works in the States. In Canada you're not allowed to carry a gun with you, unless you are law enforcement. I just think if you're going to carry a gun, you should have to go through regular evaluations. To check if your still mentally stable enough to have the right to carry a gun. I am all for guns. I do have my gun license. I go shooting. Also I play Airsoft.
I think it gives you a false sense of courage. Someone with a gun is more likely to stick their nose in and maybe kill someone, which ordinarily they would not think of doing without their steel courage.
That is grossly inaccurate, factually unproven and all around simply and statistically unfounded. From every provided data source other than your "I feel like people who carry guns are more likely to get into people's business and kill somebody. Why? I don't know I just feel like that's true" or because someone that you know, knew somebody that heard about this guy who carried a fun everyday because he was crazy and he said he wanted any excuse to kill somebody and he did so I feel people who carry guns= innocent dead people." In fact overwhelmingly the people who carry firearms (LEGALLY) again L-E-G-A-L-L-Y ! End up saving innocent lives the vast majority of the time!
@Ask_me_anything91 Sounds like you didn't read the question.
As far as I can tell. I have both fully read and understood the question/statement presented. I'm simply replying to your comment. I'm new though so I may not know all the rules/how things work, proper forum etiquette but is my commenting to your answer a No-No? Or is it not allowed?
@Ask_me_anything91 The question was basically, does a gun give you more courage than not carrying one. You talked about everything but.
Sweet boneless,, baby Jesus you are totally right. My apologies. I now it must sound like a very Trite "Cardboard cutout" of an excuse such as "Oh the sun was in my eyes." But I have been up for about 52 hours now which really is Fascinating just how much of a major impact it can have on your basic senses and super easy, familiar tasks such as reading comprehension. I not only thought I had correctly read and understood the article, but when you told me hey seems as though you didn't read the article I again, very confidently and bold exclaimed that I had and that YOU were actually the one who was in the wrong lol. Again I apologize I was 112% in the wrong on this one. Sorry for my ignorance.

If you doubt your ability to make good decisions then don't even own a firearm at all. Myself, I carry all the time because I've been in situations where I didn't have it and somebody who could've had a knife/gun was getting aggressive. Go look at videos of armed encounters... almost 100% of the time the bad guy tries to surprise the innocent. So it's quite possible you'll run into bad guys away from home. Typical criminal is also a coward and likely to gang up on you with multiple friends. Good luck with that.
Depends on the person, I guess. I know myself, and I know I would have that thing in someone’s face like three times a week lmfao, so absolutely cannot have them. Plus, it makes me uncomfortable that I’d be expected to register it. A gun is absolutely the LAST thing I want my name and information attached to😂😂😂 I think I’d really only ever carry a hot gun, a cheap throwaway one just for a wild situation where I thought the shit might jump off. I’d rather do shorter time for an unregistered gun than do life for shooting someone and them being able to find out was me, lmao, I don’t see a whole lot of sense in registering a gun.
You are in more danger carrying a gun than being unarmed. There are stat's to prove it.
The amount of toddlers who get shot or shoot someone accidentally is honestly frightening.
Carrying a gun makes you look scared or scary and that's not a good look.
I agree. Unless someone has a very cool head and strong discipline (which most people don't) having a gun on your person over a minor disagreement or offense can turn deadly as some people just get too emotional and embolden when they have a gun.
I have a gun on me at all times and if for some crazy reason it's not on me then it's loaded and chambered in my vehicle ready for immediate use. I will more than likely never have to use it and I hope the day never comes when I do need to use it. But I'm all about protecting myself and those around me.
It's in a holster that covers both the barrel and trigger for anybody who is afraid of being safe
After I turned 13, I was not longer interested in playing ''Cowboys and Indians''.
During the next 45 years it turned out that my wits are sufficient to stay out of trouble.
Mostly, that is :D
Well for one thing, if you're going to a carry a gun, you should do so SAFELY- get a damn holster and don't risk blowing your genitals off if you fall down the stairs. Even I know that, and I'm from one of the most gun-hostile states in the Union.
Guns make people feel powerful when they carry them.
Largely depends. I rarely carry a gun but that's diluent to where I live now. Previously I found having a gun deescalated a lot of situations
Always wise if you are of sound mind. If you are a person that isn't of sound mind you shouldn't be carrying.
Stupid. And the more people do it, the greater the risk of them being used. Leave them at home unless you’re a cop.
Wise. These days you're gonna need it. I'm left wing but I do support gun rights. Since the government isn't going to take away everyone's gun you might as well have one. It could mean life or death for you, your family and others.
Having a gun on you all the time seems extreme. Who's hunting and desiring to murder you to be acting like that?
Human are psycho. Look at road rage. Look at people who live in bad areas they need defense. Hell people shoot you for parking in a parking space, during the Jan 6 insurrection those politicians should have had guns on them. Rape situations is a woman has one and she can get to it she can scare the rapist away or shoot him to get away. Humanity is garbage.
Unless you are/were a police officer or combat trained, you don't belong hauling a gun around.
On the plus side, if everyone does it, then anyone who pulls that gun out heat-of-the-moment is looking at a Mexican standoff.
you can't always carry. too many times things could go wrong. too many places you can't take one
Nah. If you carry a shooter, you'll get done under the Firearms Act.
Simples...
It's common in the state of Texas.
It is wise.
