Why do you think that some full grown ass men online send death threats and/or rape threats to little kids and/or young teenagers?

Like this other day on YouTube. It was a video about a certain movie. Some people loved it, some people hated it. The interaction was between someone who was clearly a 13 year old girl, and a man who looked to be in his 40s or so. I know because of their profile photos and the videos they posted clearly showing their face and all. But the interaction went something like (though not necessarily exactly like) this.

Girl: Omg omg I loved this movie so freaking much! It was the best movie I have ever seen! I'll make sure to show it to all my friends! :3

Man: Are you fucking kidding me, you little slut? You clearly know nothing about what's a good movie and a bad movie, Jesus fucking Christ. Your entire generation is fucked.

Girl: Okay old man. ^~^

Man: Old man? Listen here you little dumb slut. You talk to me that way again and I will do things to you that you wouldn't even imagine. I will fucking track down your address. I will fucking rape you and torture you. And then I'll kill you!

Girl: Ooooh I'm so scared! D:

Man: You should be! Nobody will fucking protect you, little brat! Your parents and teachers or whatever won't be able to do shit!

Girl: Wow. You sound like a big strong scary man sending death threats to a 13 year old girl. In case you're serious though I can always call the police. ^.^

Man: The police won't do shit if you're already dead before they even get there! I always keep my promises. You'll be dead soon!

And it just kept going on and on back and forth, till eventually all the comments were deleted/removed.

Worst part though is that this wasn't just a one-off situation. I've seen this sort of thing multiple times. I really hope the kids stayed safe.

Kind of ironic how in that example the 13 year old girl seemed calm and collected while the 40 something year old man was absolutely losing his shit. Lol. You'd expect it to be the other way around.

Given the level of violence, including sexual violence, directed at a kid, I can only think about a psychiatric condition here. I mean anyone stable enough can get ugly at times, but the sheer intensity of this irrational speech tells me otherwise, this is way too much instability displayed.

Yup, you are 100% on the money pretty much! No fucking way this guy is NOT mentally ill. He should probably be put away in a mental hospital before he harms anyone, and only let out if/when he fully recovers. It is possible he's just simply an asshole trying to act edgy and shocking and has no plans to act on what he's saying, but better safe than sorry in case he is ACTUALLY serious.

About the possibility of the asshole-trying-to-act-edgy, well, I can't even consider that as not correlated to a psychiatric condition. Because if he was acting, it still means that he is unable to register that he's actually talking to someone behind a screen. Unable to acknowledge that ultraviolence, in the form of this online dialogue, is psychologically harmful, not only for the recipient but also for himself, for his own perceptions of himself. So, being unable to register such consequences for both parties involved also talks about a severe condition to me.

True, true. I think this applies to ALL websites/forums/apps in general, regardless of which one, including the really mainstream ones. I've literally seen it EVERYWHERE. GirlsAskGuys, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, 4chan... basically anywhere you can think of.

I would ask which pedo it is, but it doesn't matter. I've seen several. Doesn't matter which specific one. I just report them whenever I see them, on EVERY website, lol.

Same thing happens in prison, too. A criminal goes in thinking he's all big and strong because his whole life he's been picking on people weaker than him. But then a much bigger and stronger criminal puts him in his place soon enough.

I highly, HIGHLY doubt he talks this way to ANYONE in real life. If he DID then he'd probably be either dead, or in jail, or in a mental hospital (due to how erratic he's acting), or homeless (due to being kicked out of where he lives), or have like a million restraining orders against him. 💀
