Basically, some things and people in life are what/who they are, and you have to radically accept them as such, and adjust accordingly, rather than kick and scream about “the way it SHOULD be”, while never really coming up with an adequate solution to deal with the reality of the issue, often in a self-defeating manner.

In my early twenties, I worked at a place making selling Ticketron, making keys, and doing engraving. I had to practice engraving on pieces of scrap copper.
I made one for myself that said "Crime does not pay unless you're a cop". In actuality, the entire justice system and government profit from crime.

I've found that to be more true than I could've imagined. Not because you should tolerate disrespect, but because your value has nothing to do with what others think of you. There will ALWAYS be someone out there that jumps to put you down. So if you are seeking value from others, you will always fall short because someone will always dislike you.
