I try to, it’s not easy when you realize just what it means. It means allowing people not only to hate you, but also to yell at you, to berate you, I can only manage my response to my feelings to it because I can’t really control my emotional reactions, only my responses to those reactions.

No, I don't like to feel out of control in general. I am an organized type person that plans ahead, so that would drive me nuts not having control.
I'm not saying in all cases. Certainly there are exceptions.
