Well…. It depends on the body as well as how long they have been dead and how they died. For someone whose been dead a long time absolutely putrid just horrible. Sometimes like sulfur but the best I can say is just rotting flesh. It’s something that if you been around it you would recognize it immediately.
Like rotting meat, have you ever smelled a dead animal or road kill, it smells similar to that but very pungent and a lot stronger.
If you don't mind me asking how do you know?
Also if there's blood, you can smell that also, blood smells like blood, a metally smell, when I was around 5 to 8 I saw and smelled the blood of some dude that got into a fight in my building late at night, left a trail and got pushed off, according to some people they heard him scream late at night, in the morning i looked down and saw him laying there dead with cleanup crew sucking up the blood with a vacuum, the first time i smelled a rotting corpse was when someone I used to skate with stabbed his own mother and threw her body in a closet and poured laundry detergent on her, she rotted for 3 days until the dude had a party and somebody found her body, the body stunk up the air all the way up to the entrance of the condo from the back of the condo.
like rotten fish? hard to describe but it's powerful and you can just tell something is off
might start gradual but after a while EVERYONE is smelling it that's nearby
