In the house I grew up in, my bedroom window faced a busy street. I was used to the traffic noise.

My wife and I moved to our home on 30 acres in a rural area in 2022. I love the quiet. There are frogs and crickets at certain times of the year, and we can hear the faint moos of cows, baas of sheep, and crows of roosters in the distance on occasion, but none of those sounds bother me. In fact, they can be soothing.
It is silent most of the time at night and I love it. But the sound of a fan or even the hum of the window AC unit on warm nights in the summer don't bother me at all.
I never sleep with a TV or music playing, though. I don't need artificial background noise. In fact, I dislike it. I am happy with silence.

White noise, a fan, rain is always good, or just peace and quiet.

i need zero light and sound

like if im expecting it not be dark and loud its whatever like im used to it, but if i have that expectation that it won't be then its really annoying

Definitely background noise, whether it's a fan, or a constant "white" noise coming out of a speaker
