since i was like 21 or so i feel like the days and months seem get to get shorter and shorter. now i blink, it's been 6 months. i also feel like every year goes by significantly faster than the last

Basically the longer you live, the shorter the years seem because your perception of time is relative to how long you've been alive. If you were a kid and you've only been alive for 4 years, one year is 25% of your whole lifetime and seems like a very long time. But if you're 90 years old, one year is only 1.1% of your lifetime and doesn't seem like shit.
