**My Goodness, It seemed Like Yesterday It was Christmas. lolxxoo
Time is so mysterious. When you have nothing to do, it still ticks away, but seems like it's ticking away slower, and then when you're keeping busy, it feels like it's moving by faster. I remember summers when I was at Band Camp out there in 90 degree whether, standing there, waiting for the band instructor to set up line formations. It took so long because he had to figure out where every single one of us was going to stand and where we had to move and how many steps we had to march and where we had to stop. As boring as it was, you still miss it once it's over.
I remember I used to stand out there and talk to my friends. We used to talk about movies, television shows, who was on the tonight show the night before, we would even swap recipes, lol. (Yeah, we were bored!).
I remember when I had friends and my family was still around, and one day, it all disappeared, at the drop of a hat it seems. There's not even anyone left in my home town to visit. I still get homesick though. This apartment I'm living in, it still doesn't feel like home.
Time definitely takes more than it gives. I started writing a book series and my characters time travel, and I did some calculations on paper and wrote some real life scenarios for the book, and the results I came up with, if you could time travel, no matter how long you jump around in time for, if you jump from now to 100 years from now, if you're only there for 2 days, it may still feel like yesterday but seem like a lifetime because everything from 100 years ago is gone. When time moves by fast though, it's a good thing because it means you're getting something out of your life. Usually when it moves slow for people, they aren't fulfilled. I've never been a good timekeeper myself!
I know, right! When I started out my book series last year, I did not think I would have finished 3 books, and it seems like yesterday I was giving my characters their first line of dialogue!
You should so write another play. Everyone always tell me 'If you publish something, you have the talent because not everyone can write, and finish something on top of it'. And I know you got the talent for it!
Yeah I do , the older I get the faster it goes by
Not mentally at least 😊
YES!!! I KNOW RIGHT!! I have to have insulin once a week and it blows my mind that each time I think I have another 3 days until my next shot, it's like nope it's today... time is flying super fast. May be I am to darn busy that makes my time and day go faster than like 10 years ago where everything seemed more relaxed and not like today where everyone is fighting about prices of things going up, and money so getting jobs are very hard to get and the best is now getting part time jobs here and there. It's a harder life now than years ago.
I think when we grow, we notice the passing of time more. But when I was a kid, I wanted the time to hurry so that I could be a big person. Now all I want is to be young again and escape the reality of adulthood 🤧🫣
Yeah 😂

Sometimes, time marches very quickly for me. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was driving to Gainesville to have my first date with Helen, and now we are engaged! It’s been 2 1/2 years. But thinking back to my graduation from law school, that seems like it was 200 years ago!😀

It's an artifact of speed and perception. At age 5, a year is 20% of your life; a huge chunk. At age 20, it's only 5%; not negligible, but not nearly so notable. It your late thirties, six months isn't much time at all.
The other thing is speed. Think of a 33 RPM record, drawing a line from the center to the edge, imagining a point at each end of the line. Now, both points are moving at the same speed in terms of rotations per minute, but the edge point is MUCH faster in terms of inches per minute. Likewise, you're moving at different speeds depending on where you are on Earth. The advantage of a sphere (if Earth were the size of a basketball, it would be closer to a perfect sphere than a basketball is, so imperfections be damned; it's a sphere) is that every point on its surface is equidistant from the center, just like the edge of a circle. So you'd THINK we're all moving at the same speed, but the planet's only rotating on one axis, so distance from the equator is a MUCH bigger issue than distance from sea level. Time doesn't actually move faster when you go slower, but you perceive it as doing so (a lot of physicists struggle with this, but then, they tend to have difficulties objective reality).
Yes, when we were young, time dragged by, but now it's extremely fast. Let me explain the reason for this. When we were a year old, a year was 100% of our life. When we were two years old, a year was 50% of our life. Each year that passes becomes a smaller portion of our life. Since we can only look back and not forward, each new year shrinks, based on our perception, so appears faster.
It's like your MHO score on this site. Though it may make large jumps when we first started on this site, the more posts we make, the less percentage movement we see with each new addition.
I'm still young but gosh it passes by so fast... I'm finishing my degree but I still think it was a year ago when I was 17 and all the things I did with my friends. I'm still the same, maybe more mature. I have the same humor, the same jokes, everything the same but 8 years older and when I think about it I feel very afraid of how I am going to deal with the things that the future has in store for me. If I feel like I did when I was 17, will I be the way I am now when I have a child? Am I ready to lose someone important? I want to evolve, I don't want to be the same forever, I want to have a great future... Time is scary for sure...
I feel like time passes fasted when you are just always busy since you can really enjoy the day! When we were younger we kind of had all the time since we spent most at school or with friends/home so we were trying to find things to do. Now with work + life we are on the constant move that once we are able to stop and relax most of the day is gone already. Sometimes we need to work on prioritizing other things in our life than just work, and take the time to relax
I'm only a kid, but I'm already feeling the effects. My mind sees days like stair steps. A lot can happen in a day, but a lot of them are also not very memorable. I see the connections with things in my life with just maturing. Nothing feels like it's going to be forever now. The ratio of old experiences to new ones can only keep growing.
at one moment your looking towards your sweet 16 birthday followed by getting your drivers license and a car. Next up is turning 18 to be legally considered an adult and finally turning 21 to be of legal drinking age. Now looking into the mirror people ask themselves "where did time go"
Yes. I asked my fans is time faster this time around... most said yes. And now where I am, time is moving a considerable rate. But now it's slowing down a very marginal bit since I have moved out.
Nope. Before I knew it, my engineering is over. The past six years from 10th to engineering has been a blue.
In a blink I am in my school, and in another one, I am sitting and studying for MBA admissions after engineering.
Yep, ever since I was young I recognized the fact I wanted to appreciate the fact that I am young and wasn't an adult yet, which made time go by even faster, lmao. Although, it's been on overdrive ever since I graduated high school.
That must feel weird for you, since you graduated in 2002? Time flying by and kids born 20 years after you becoming adults lmao
Going forward is quick and and over within an instant. While witnessing the time fly by, you may feel disappointment and a constant feeling of being rushed and that time is always slipping away from your grasps.
Looking back however, time seems to almost freeze itself or to slow down experiences to allow for you to be introspective and to appreciate and cherish your journeys throughout life.
My grand pappy said when you get old, time passes by like a picket fence.
Last week was memorial day and the 4th of July is next week. Labor day is right after that. We will shoveling snow again before we know it.
Evil Professor 😈
I'm just the opposite. It seems like New Years was 5 years ago to me. I guess it depends on how busy our lives are. The busier I am, the longer time ago is.
For sure, we are almost into summer, spring season went by and there were some things I was hoping to do.
Yes! When I was a kid, a year took FOREVER!1 But, today, I no sooner get the tree taken down when I have to get the house ready to put it back up again!!
Tempus fugit!!
Time flies like an arrow!
Fruit flies like a banana!
Usually, but this year has felt longer than most. I can't believe it's still June. 😕
We don't get summer until July 1st, so June is always a long month.
any time.
It depends on your age. At age 8, time passes slowly. At age 80, time passes quickly.
God yes. I mean, just last week it was 1980.
yes as get older. it slows down when you slow down and focus on here and now.
Yeah, it seems like my four boys were just in cub scouts and now two of them are now married and have kids of their own now
Did someone say "POT BROWNIES" hahahaha
Everybody notices. When you are a kid - say 5, one Christmas to another is 20% of your life.
It does. Especially if prevented from the healthy monogamous one and only marriage to an equal by measures and thus deprived of the marital and family bliss.
Yes, there are never enough hours in a day.
I see that because it feels like this month is just flying by
Every time I see my nieces
still remember the day I brought those girls home from the hospital.
I want a nephew 😭 get him something cool like a boomerang, a slingshot or a mini dirt bike
My little sister is pregnant again I really hope she has a little boy
Yes and that's a great thing. Don't wanna be young anymore (20 y. o).
Yes It definitely feels like time got faster. I really don’t mind it when I’m at work though lol. But the days definitely have been flying by and I’ve noticed.
Time passes at the same pace: 24 hours a day, occasionally 25 or 23.
Everyday is a reminder of how short and finite our lives are
Yes, and the older you get the faster time seems to pass.
The older I get the faster it seems to pass.
Time does seem to fly by a lot faster now that I'm older than when I was younger
Tell my body that. Lol
I know right... It's fucking scary... Time is running by like grain of sand
its always been the same rate of speed, you must be having fun
Depends how tall you are. They’re closer to the sun.
Yes I do it really seem's to pass very fast some times.
God Bless
Yes especially if something seem recently my friends child graduated high school. Shocking.
Graduated high school in 2014. It’s now 2023. It doesn’t even feel like it
yeah the time and years and everything passes by very quickly and thinking about that makes me sad
I know right? It seems like New Year's Eve was yesterday and now we're already in June! It's crazy!
"Days are long but years are short". I forget who said it but it's more true than I'd like - especially since my son was born.
Yes, especially in the summer ☀️
Time is Time
That has No Time
It needs to move even faster.
That's just cause we're getting old ^^
I agree!! I think about this a lot.
Yup. Time slows down for no one.
It is a blessing and a curse really. A double edged friend.
Best to invest every moment.
It is flying, for sure
The older I get the faster it passes
Some say “time flies when you’re having fun.”
I say “time goes by as fast or slow as you don’t want it to.” lol
I do. It flows by like a jet plane :)
Half the year has gone by and I am not getting any younger despite counting backwards for my birthdays. lol
The year is half over in a blink of an eye.
Yes, it definitely seems to pass quickly
I sure do each day I get older ,👍😜😜😋
Yes it does, Wednesday yesterday now its Thursday 😆
I did and I feel like less-and-less tasks are getting accomplished.
