Have you ever been disappointed by how simple something is?

Have you ever had to take on a project or solve a problem that you thought would be really challenging, but then the solution turned out to be really easy?

MY STORY. A couple of weeks ago, my wife told me the dryer wasn't working, said it was heating but not turning. We thought the belt had snapped. I ordered the parts (and used a perfectly good Amazon gift card, courtesy of G@G for Mod of the Month), took the dryer apart, and what was wrong? A sock was caught in the motor. A. Sock. And it was one of mine too! I was looking forward to replacing the parts and testing it out, but that's all it was.

Granted, taking a dryer completely apart is no picnic either, but still...

Have you ever had a situation that you were expecting and hoping to be a challenge, only to be disappointed with how simple and easy the solution actually was?

Yeah quite a few times this has happened, actually happens all the time when attending call outs and always seems to be on a Friday at the end of the day and far away from where I am at that time and far away from home.

I work with technology and these gadgets that are supposed to make peoples lives easier cause so much frustration when not working and quite often it is as simple as plugging the thing in because when not being used someone has unplugged it to charge their phone or something. The other common way to fix things if they are powered up and running is to turn them off wait 30 seconds or so them turn them back on, to charge for this we call it running it through it's power cycle or power cycling (sounds better on the invoice).

Have you ever heard of Occam's Razor? It's a problem solving principle useful in philosophy and science. It basically says that in the absence of evidence, the simplest answer is usually the best choice. I've found it useful in a process of elimination to get answers.

And usually the universe does not favor complexity. Simple, elegant solutions are usually what you find. If you can see it.

I am familiar with it. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy or get some kind of satisfaction from the grind or the accomplishment though.

when it comes to these tasks, hubby is in charge so I am sure he has encountered multiple issues that we don’t remember.

I think it was one of the gag questions or opinions regarding this topic. It’s about why the missing sock. Many found them in the dryer. (Some part of the dryer) 😂

Similar dryer situation here. Except for me it was some kind of temperature regulator sensor that died. I went overkill and bought a whole new heating element.

Yup. I had a screen that needed to be replaced in a door. Put it off for months. Finally got off my ass and did it and was done within 10 minutes. Pissed me off how much time I wasted putting it off.
