When was the first time in life you realized how shallow people could be about other's physical appearances?

For me, it was back in 3rd grade when I was 9 years old. Though most kids in the class were 8 if I recall correctly as I started 1 year late.

We had come back to school from a break in that same year. Can't quite recall if it was the Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, or Spring break, or whatever, but it was a break.

And in that time one of my male classmates was able to grow a tiny barely noticeable moustache... and all the girls in the class went absolutely CRAZY over it.

They literally didn't give a shit about him before, but now they were going on and on about how "he was so handsome" and how "he was so mature now."

And he himself enjoyed this and played into this. Often talking with one side of his mouth to put emphasis on the way his moustache moved as he talked; and often playing with his moustache. And when the girls began to fight over him he'd be like "ladies ladies there's enough of me to go around."

Then one day his mom made him shave his moustache...

And suddenly the girls didn't give a shit about him anymore. Literally telling him "we don't want you, you're not handsome anymore."

And then when he REGREW his moustache then they were all over him AGAIN...

And keep in mind, these were kids who were around 8 and 9 years old. If they were this shallow this young then imagine how shallow they'll be as adults... aka today, lol.

WHen I became pretty and everybody gave me special treatment like if I ask for something I get it and if I ask for nothing I get it too but then I saw how my sister was treated unkindly by the same one who acted like I was some special person just becuase they find me pretty and it's then I saw how those people are just disgustingly shallow.

Also when I was not as pretty people ignored me, I was getting bullied nobody cared now I would walk all over them and they would say thank you just to get a chance to hit it...

Worst thing is one of my ex bully hit on me without realizing that he used to bully me in middle school and made my life hell...

The only people who I would trust are those who used to be nice to me before it happened. (and the people who have similar personality anybody else I avoid).

Ah yes. Your experience does not surprise me one bit. The classic situation of a woman's value being completely tied to her appearance and her appearance alone. People can be so disgusting, yes indeed.

Sucks that people would ignore you. But hey, at least you had the chance for revenge and to walk all over those same people. And yes, people desperate just ot hit it... pathetic.

And wow. So your bully literally didn't realize you were the same person, eh? I'm not sure if that's funny or just sad. Either way, he's an idiot.

Somewhat unrelated but also related, but in late elementary school (around 4th grade) there was this really annoying boy who was in a one sided friendship with me, and then I ran into him into late middle school (8th grade) about 4 years later and he didn't recognize me at all, and I was happy for that.

And yeah. You can only really trust people who were ALWAYS nice to you. And yeah, always good to avoid people with similar personalities.

Well at the time I was extremely shy so it was either getting ignored either getting bullied so being ignored was actually safe and more comfortable at the time;

Now I just ignore those people I don't even get revenge on them (I don't even see them anymore so I guess they moved to a bigger cities anyway).
Yes those desperate to hit it are the worst very annoying.

He's quite dumb for sure but he was never smart to being with, he also got sent to another middle school becuase he bullied me too much and caused too much trouble in general.
I guess it was cool he did not recognize me becuase at least he did not try to bully me anymore.

Yeah. Unfortunately that's how people are. The ONE and ONLY thing people value more than appearance is money... 🤑💰💳💸🪙 ... 😔

I'm actually extremely shy to this day (my username checks out lol). Not seen as cute or as desirable on a guy, but it is what it is. But yeah. Getting ignored is definitely much better than bullying. Bullying literally ruined my life to this day and even seeing large groups of small children and/or teens together makes my anxiety go WAY up. 🥶😰

Yeah. Ignoring is better than revenge. Revenge while satisfying is also a somewhat petty/immature thing in the long run. And it's good you never see them again and that they moved to bigger cities, lol. If I came across anyone I know from elementary, middle, and high school, and they tried talking to me, I'd just act like I don't recognize them at all and completely forgot about them. ☠️ But yeah. Those desperate to hit it are VERY annoying.

Yeah, he sure sounds dumb as hell. At least he seems he got what's coming to him/got consequences.

When I was like 8? Due to genetics i had severe overcrowding with my teeth as a child, i hated my smile and kids bullied me for it. I got braces when I was 12.

Damn. So sorry to hear. Can't say I'm surprised though. The other kids had been making fun of me LITERALLY since the FIRST day of kindergarten when I was 6, and it was never stopped all throughout till the end, 12th grade when I was 18.

So yeah. Kids are cruel. After all my negative childhood experiences I just can't EVER see kids as "cute."

Ah yes, true. Since children literally traumatized me for life when I WAS one myself I just can't EVER get over that association no matter how hard I try. Whenever I see a group of children I tend to subconsciously imagine myself as one of them and them making fun of me all over again. Irrational? Maybe. But that's how I feel.

Even beyond that, I just find kids loud and annoying as fuck. A sensory nightmare. And I'd definitely NEVER want my own.

Also, surprises me you're 23, the same age as me, because even if I wanted to I just simply could NEVER have kids. I'm borderline mentally challenged (except for writing stuff digitally as you can see) and can basically do almost nothing on my own.

But then again, I remember not all 23 year olds are like me. 23 year olds are already old enough to have done a bunch of stuff. Finished college, gotten a good job, etc. Heck, even some teens who were forced to grow up quicker due to a rough life are more capable than me.

Started on American Online IM. Multiple times on AIM chatrooms, some girl or girls would want to trade pictures. When I sent mine, they would just log off, or block me. Never to be heard from again. That was my very first taste of it.
