Have you ever had to call the police?

I believe I’ve had to call one or two times before.

i just called for my 3rd time today.

So I just finished my training for management at my job last week.

so this is my first week running the restaurant on my own. It’s only my third shift alone.

Today two of our servers were ringing the back door bell kinda frantically and I was like “wow they’re impatient today 🙄”

when I opened the door for them, they looked kinda nervous and pointed at an older guy walking behind them.
he was walking toward the door and I was like “uh…can I help you?”

At first I thought he was someone from a maintenance company because I did make a call earlier this morning.

he didn’t say anything he just walked toward the door. So I quickly shut it and he literally tried to grab the door and come inside. I was like “NO NO NO” and had to fight with the door with him for a second.

so I slammed it in his face. And then he stood outside the door ringing the doorbell over and over.

so I texted my general manager and asked if I should call the cops and he said yeah.

the cops came and they told me that he must have dementia or something and seemed confused as to where he was. So they called an ambulance to pick him up.

That made me sad 😭

my GM called me again after and he was like “I’ve been a manager for 12 years and never had someone try to break into the back door…and it happens on your third shift”

like of course it did 😭😭😭😭

I was messaging my van group (all managers go on a business trip for training and they pair you up with a group that you share a van with) And they were like “yeah that’s the first month curse. Something bad will always happen during your first month”

like oh!!! 🤠 NOW you tell me about the first month curse?

Yes, a few times. When I was about 15 I had a boyfriend, one weekend I went out of town to visit my sister and so we talked over phone call instead of seeing each other in person, and things got bad and he started threatening to end his life and telling me how he was going to do it, so I called the police to go to his house and do a wellness check.
I've called the police a handful of times over domestic abuse with my neighbours/strangers on the street.
And I’ve called them once over a car accident, a lady driving infront of me started swerving all over the road and then crashed into the side of the bridge. Turned out she’d been driving drunk. Police dealt with it.

yeah that sounds about right lol when i was a manager at wendy's, i had to call the cops a few times bc of a tweaker locking themselves in the bathroom

actually almost all of my phone calls (which isn't man) to the police have been bc of someone ODing

Yep, last time was several years ago,  a moron drew a gun in the neighborhood . Uniforms were there in two minutes, guy's arrested, no damage done, clean and simple.

Yeah, mostly for people in a helpless state. Twice for traffic accidents. Once to get some wannabe streetfighter idiot arrested.

Police maybe once or twice my whole life until the last year. We’ve had to call or have had them over probably four or five times in the last year (breaking in, neighbors having several hour long raging screaming fights on the lawn at 3am, death threats for asking them kindly to please at least just take it inside, people breaking into cars, etc). It’s kind of a chintzy area. We’re lucky to get fast responses, and they’ve been decent with us, so there/s a lot of affection for the local police because they seem very quick if somebody calls.

Yes.

Numerous of times, both private and as a bartender.

Now I have a security company I call at work if needed. Only had to use that once thankfully. That is NOT a pleasant experience.

Last time I called the cops was on my old neighbour for harrashing people outside the apartment one morning. Him I called the cops on a lot.

Maybe the old manager left because the same thing happened when they were managing the store. I remember a hotel experienced a murder scene and the hotel manager quit the job shortly afterwards. I believe I know who did it because a suspicious man tried to get me into his car 2 minutes from the crime scene a month before the murder happened. I was useless to the police due to my poor visual memory.

I used to work at a liquor store and we’d be robbed all the time. They’d take the booze, I’d pull the footage and call the cops. I haven’t worked there in 6 years and they STILL know me.

I’ve had the police called on me once. I work in health care and a client was having a mental health problem facing confusion.
