Does it ever feel weird knowing your peers are old enough to be high school teachers?

Of course, I reached that age threshold years ago. It feels weird knowing some of my peers already have kids in middle school or are high school teachers.

Of course, my adolescent years sucked, but sometimes I miss the days when I didn't have to be an adult. I miss the days when I had those "rose colored glasses" where I didn't see many of these adults' true colors and how shitty they or the world really is. I miss the days when I had more of a support system and was given the benefit of the doubt when I was naive or made a mistake.

I never had a girlfriend in middle school or high school anyways. I didn't meet the love of my life and my first real girlfriend until I was 29. This is one of the few positive events in my life that brought positivity to my adulthood. We are about to get married, and it will be our very first (and hopefully ONLY) marriage. Better late than never!

Not at all. Some of my peers are already married with like 3 kids. So them being old enough to work as a teacher isn’t a huge deal.


I’ve been loving adulthood since it started. I never had the rose tinted glasses like you did. My teen years were full of trauma, severe mental illness, drug addiction and repeated failure. Things drastically improved when I reached adulthood. And this year has been my best year so far, despite its difficulties.

Yeah, I know of a few that had multiple kids by the time they reached their mid-20s. My and my fiance don't have any kids yet, and we still don't feel ready. Everyday essentials are very expensive and homeownership is unobtainable. Although, we will be living in my parents' house, as my parents live elsewhere and are separated. I don't want to wish for my parents' marital issues obviously, but that situation did offer a place for me and my fiance to live independently.

It sounds like you and your fiancé are in a very secure spot right now, thats not something that many people have. Life expensive are constantly on the rise and homeownership is a pipe dream for most these days, but you and your fiancé are getting through it and I wish you luck!

Congrats on your marriage. I hope you’re able to stop focusing on your past insecurities and deal with them properly with a therapist after your wedding, for the sake of you and your wife.

I wanted a woman without a romantic past before me. I am her first kiss and first love and everything. I feel blessed. There was a time when I was worried about some boys she knew in her youth, but I have been putting that behind me.

I was at the Mayo Clinic recently to see the chair of the psychiatry department. I have had severe mental illness my entire life. I am hoping some breakthroughs will happen soon.
