You should be able to easily live on that almost anywhere in the US, with money to spare. In some places, that gets you into lower middle class. The people who say otherwise don't know how to live within their means.

Personally, I can easily live on a quarter of that.

Yeah, the standard of living is pretty cheap where I live. And low crime. It's hard to find that combination.
