Can you use old moving boxes as trash bags?

It's expected to break down boxes. I get that. Boxes filled to the brim of trash that's fair enough right? It's also in a reasonable size community dumpster.

Pizza boxes then all the fluff from new things in a moving box folded shut. Looks bad but it's no different then a trash bag right?

It seems like the trash collectors will let you get away with things once a year, like putting out boxes instead of bags full of trash, but for the most part you have to do it exactly their way or they won't take it. It makes me crazy, I pay a fortune in taxes but it doesn't cover trash pickup for some reason, I pay a fortune for trash service, and then I have to follow all their little rules and sort everything and make sure it's done this way or that way when in the end it all winds up in the same place. I just want to throw things in the bin and have them take it away.

The only concern might be the smell, the flies, maggots etc. that unsealed trash might attract.

This will disappoint you: a box -by its nature- cannot be a bag :)
