Do you recommend double wide trailers or manufacturer home?

I am selling my house and now thinking about buying a manufactured home. I want to know what are you're experience with mobile house , double wide manufactured homes? How much is the cost? My uncle sold me a property land and now I am thinking about buying ethier a manufacture home , mobile home double wide.

I what to know from someone how currently live in a mobile home. Is it a good idea?

In the US, a manufactured home and a mobile home are the same thing.

I have lived in a couple of mobile homes. I also very briefly had a job working on them. They are not nearly the same quality as a regular built-in-place home, but they are way better than they used to be. They are still cheaply made compared to on-site construction.

It's obvious when you are inside that they are mobile homes and lower quality. They just have a certain look to them. They should not be expected to last as long as a built-in-place home either, but they should last a good long time, probably longer than you'll live if you maintain it.

Having said that, they can be a good place to live for a reasonable price. That's especially true since you already have the land. When you live in a mobile home park, you own the home, but still pay rent.

Modern mobile homes can be pretty nice. It just depends on what you pay for. When shopping around, make sure you know the transportation and set up costs. Even though they are called mobile, that really means they are transported from the factory to your location. Although they can be moved later, they are mainly meant to stay put.

They are built on a heavy duty metal frame. Sort of like a full frame car or pick-up truck - only bigger. The tongue and wheels come off when set up, but the home still sits on the frame.

There is a huge variety, so you really need to shop around. You can get double wides and triple wides, which are pretty darn big. You can get garages and can even be set up over a basement.

You can get a wide variety of amenities. Some look pretty nice inside, with nice kitchens, bathrooms, etc. But no matter how nice, you can't get around it feeling like a mobile home.

Many of the parts for maintenance and repairs are specialized, so you may not be able to run down to Home Depot to pick them up. You can get a considerable amount at Home Depot, just not everything.

Do I recommend one? I think ideally it would be nice to spend some time in one before buying. I won't recommend one, but I won't recommend against it either. It's a personal choice. Would I personally live in one again? Absolutely.

I have never lived in one but I've been in multiple mobile homes, single and double wide. The newer double wide homes look just like a regular house.
