Do you recommend mobile home as a first time home owner or a regular house?

My husband and I we are look at options. I am doing my research and I want a home where we can pay it off. My husband and I goal is to save up as much money. We are a frugal couple. I just wanted to see from mobile home owners? Is it easier to buy a mobile home then a regular house? Would you recommend a mobile home? Is the cost cheaper? We are currently paying rent in a townhouse and we pay off things quickly. Are mobile homes a lot more easier to buy?

Comparing apples to oranges is something that everyone should do especially when it comes to buying a home. As for buying anything there are wants & there are needs & learning to separate those two are the way to go. As for buying a home buy what you can afford & don’t buy just to impress your friends because I have had friends that bought houses they couldn’t afford & unfortunately they lost their homes.

As for your husband & yourself right now you two are renting & right now you two are paying someone else’s mortgage & the only thing you get out of the deal is a roof over your head. If you buy a home your paying your own mortgage & after you pay it off it’s officially yours & that is such a wonderful feeling. If you buy a home you are responsible for all the maintenance, landscaping & more.

As for me I bought a small three bedroom single story home that was only six months old at the time. The home was basically brand new & didn’t need anything. It was in a new community, close to work & it met my requirements.

As for you do your homework & find the right home in the right area & close to work. As for a mobile home versus a regular home the resale value on a regular home is a lot better but then again there are pros and cons to everything. Buy what you can afford & after you pay it off you can start saving for your future.

Mobile homes are cheaper because they're cheaply made. And a lot of times you have to still rent the land that the home is on. If your goal is total ownership, then a mobile home on land you purchased is a better option but a modular home may be a better quality for you at a cost that isn't too much higher.

There is no such thing as a "mobile home" - it's a misnomer. You're basically talking about a motorhome, RV or camper. They are very different and none are substitutes for a proper home.

You will always regret trying to use it as a "full time home" as that was never their purpose.

Best downgrade first, to lower your rent, if you want to save more for a first time home.

Mobile home is easier and includes a "car" and tour. Later, maybe a year pay off, you can sell it to buy a house.

I wouldn't, they are the most likely to get destroyed by any natural disaster. So you end up losing all the equity. Plus do they ever get more valuable with time?

Not really I've seen vintage mobile homes for $15,000 . Yeah. I am doing my research I also hear the lot will cost $500 toeven $1,000 monthly which is almost paying rent. I wentto th state not everywhere mobiles homes are welcome. So yeah sometimes the cheaper side can get expensive. My husband and I want to stretch each dime as possible.

If you own the land underneath it then it's fine. If you buy one in a "trailer park" or other place where you have to pay space rent or a high association fee every month, it sucks.
