I think it’s to show sympathy for those who are in hospitals, but still a nice thought. I can definitely see it being for a loved one can also be quite thoughtful and meaningful to them as well.

Nurse here! Flowers can be a good gift to a person in the hospital if they want them!

Just be aware, some units do not allow flowers on the floor (such as oncology units or ICU's) as they can be risks to immunocompromised or acutely ill patients. I work in an ICU and I have to turn away flowers a few times each month. Maybe call ahead or ask one of the staff before bringing in any flowers.

I think it's nice yes but from perspective of the patient? Some food and drink is more practically better! One of the things I miss most when in hospital is not havubv a bit of fizzy drink or juice and snacks to hand. It's not like you can just nip to the shop. So I'm grateful for that stuff.

I never liked receiving flowers. They only last a few days and then they die. I don't need to be reminded of death right after I survive the hospital stay.

Some people recognize that and give a living plant. That doesn't work either. A plant is something I didn't need and now I have to care for it. With my black thumb, I'm gonna kill it.

I have a family member who was recently hospitalized with a leg fracture from a fall. I wanted to give them something nice to show that I was thinking of them, and to wish them well.

I think flowers are a perfect way of showing that.

From the times I have been in the hospital. I would rather a short personal visit over sending flowers.
