Do you believe in the concept of giving flowers?

I'm not asking if you like receiving flowers. I'm asking if you believe in the concept in society of gifting flowers in general.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I've never believed in it. It makes no sense to me that people give you something that you don't really do anything to maintain and dies in 4 weeks tops. If I was to give something to someone I'd rather it be permanent like a necklace or something practical they can use. Either that or an experience with them.

When you receive flowers, you'll either leave them or you'll put them in some water then not touch them again until they need to be thrown out.

If I was to give someone flowers, it would be a potted plant.

Whenever I walk down a street carrying flowers there will be a few girls who ask 'Are they for me?'. So I am pretty sure girls do like cut flowers. They look pretty and sometimes smell nice - what more does a girl want?

The first time you give girl flowers she will be pleased and quite possibly get good sex. The real advantage for a man is you learn more about the girls nature. Subsequent bunches might regarded in a so what attitude.

So you will know that what you do for her is not going to appreciated in even the short term. That's good to know that she is an unappreciative.

Other girls might express appreciation but it is more perfunctionary and out of politeness.

A few girls will always be genuinely appreciative each time. They are the type to marry.

So I think giving flowers has a strongly functional basis to it.

No, and thankfully my wife has very similar tastes as me this way.

That said, I dislike the potted plant as well as a gift. In general, my wife and I both dislike unsolicited gifts that require some degree of care and maintenance whether it's flowers, potted plants, or pet animals: gifts that have an associated responsibility attached which deteriorate rapidly if the receiver doesn't take on the associated responsibility.

It carries too much risk from my perspective that the associated burden of responsibility can outweigh the reward for the receiver. So I dislike gifts, unless specifically requested, that come attached with much of an attached responsibility.

I like flowers but fake ones that last. people think its silly that i prefer those. I've never given flowers bur probably would if someone died

I was walking down the street with flowers yesterday and two different stranger girls asked if they were for her. I was actually taking them to a funeral so the line didn't work.
