i've never really heard of anyone doing this , my parents have this rental unit and its going to be coming vacant soon so they suggested they'd change the bills to my name ( hydro , gas ) so i could build my credit. and they'd pay them all
although i told them no rate away that i already had money issues and really didn't think it be a good idea as i would still be legally responsible for these bills if someone they were not able to pay them or whatever and i just didn't really want to deal with this. as its not my rental unit and don't want to get deeply involved with it

Start off with a starter credit card. Never put a bill on your name unless you want to be responsible for it. I never understood why some parents put bills in their kids name (because they couldn't keep or get it under theirs) its not right. Im not trying to judge. I have a 2 year old and so far i haven't had to put anything in his name and im trying not to
thats kind of what i though ( never put a bill in your name idea as i don't want to be responisible for it long term )
i've already had a credit card with a small limit for a number of years now and a small cell phone bill too.
Thats good. Ask for a higher amount. I did that. Im in the 700s... no student loans either. What really helped me was i took a car loan out. They look for history and longevity in loans and paying them off so id just pass on your parents offer
Most bills don't help your credit. You are better off having a line of credit then building from there.
Your parents would pay it...
Someone sounds incredibly spoiled.
