When do you start decorating for Christmas?

As I was sitting here managing to procrastinate on anything resembling responsibility or housework it occurred to me that I like decorating! Yes, I do. I am always decorating the house for something. Some people even have the audacity to think I might overdo it. So what if it's only Nov. 7 and I might have accidentally hung a wreath on the door? I mean, there's only so many Thanksgiving decorations to work with, you know, and the live turkey I brought into the house last year didn't go over so well.

So, yet another of Random's pointless ponderings, When do you start decorating for Christmas?

My late boyfriend loved all of the decorations for Halloween and Christmas.

So we decorated for Christmas AND Halloween at the same time.

But the 1st of December I mail out my Christmas cards. Sadly, last year more people passed away who were on my list, so it's getting shorter every year.

There are many people here that I would like to send a real, paper greeting card to but I don't know their addresses.

I prepare the Christmas cards and presents. Hopefully to be ready in time. I need enough time for delivery... so every card should arrive 1-2 week of Dec.

And the presents I will send. The others should be prepared for the visits. Spontaneously planned. I really like it to have little packages of joy for people I like or love

I will have my extended family at my new home for lunch on Thanksgiving, and will ask them to help dec rotate after lunch. I hope it becomes a family tradition.

Usually right after Thanksgiving , I think people that start now are way to early , and to me it ruins Christmas , because by the time Christmas does get here , I already had enough of it , people need to learn patience

I live alone so I usually don't bother, but if I do it's sometime in November, and it will be plant-based decorations that are things like pinecones, broom-sprigs, dried plants, holly, etc.

I don't decorate for the holidays but there's an unwritten law for proper old ladies- Christmas decorations shall not be displayed until after Thanksgiving is over. Beware of making waves in the tank with the old ladies.

Typically after Halloween. But generally here, people already start decorating on September 1, when Christmas season officially starts. Sometimes it even ends in the third Sunday of January.
