If somebody insulted me first I wouldn’t insult them back because I think if you look happy in front of the people who try to put you down it makes them feel like they haven’t succeeded in upsetting or annoying you.

If I insult somebody back that would make it look like they have triggered me.
I don’t want other people to feel like they have succeeded in upsetting or annoying me.
