Hypothetical question?

It’s a hot summer’s day, you are walking along a lake when you look over and you see two things, your favorite pet (dog, cat, whatever, it doesn’t matter what it is. It’s your favorite pet) not far from shore, drowning. A few feet apart is a man (a complete stranger) drowning.

You’re in excellent physical condition, an excellent swimmer, but you can only save one of them. Who do you save, and why?

My favorite pet can swim, so I wouldn't need to save her, and seeing as I have no experience trying to save drowning victims, I might try to throw him something that floats, but I wouldn't try to save him because he'd likely drown me with him. Those that can't swim go into panic mode, and because of that, it is quite common for them to take actions that are basically attempting to drown their rescuer.

Have you not heard about the people that have died trying to save a drowning victim? It is VERY risky. I am assuming of course that the ground is 10s of feet below water and not inches below what I can touch.

Both or im going to drown with them. Id try and teach the person to float on their back untill I could save the animal, then go back for the person. If the person can't calm their mind enough to float and help themselves my physical help won't save them either. They will probably drown me who is trying to help, from freaking out over the situation they are in.

I think the best thing to do in a moment of fight or flight is stay calm and look for other solutions.

Wow. Why you brought politics into the picture, I have no idea. I just wanted to know where your morals lie. Apparently, a human life means nothing to you. I hope you're never in a situation where a stranger has to decide on saving your life or an animal.
