OK so the guy I really really like has a girlfriend who's like six hours away by car. I get that, respect it and keep my distance. None the less he keeps flirting with me and making plans so we can hang out and spend time together outside of school. So the other day he asked me a "hypothetical" question. He asked me 'If me and my girlfriend were to break up and I asked you out, would you yes?' What does that mean!? Does he like me? Is he planning something? I'm confused
Agreed. That "hypothetical" question is a guy testing the water. He doesn't want to risk what he has unless he has something better lined up. He wouldn't ask you about it unless he was considering doing just that.

The question is most likely not hypothetical. Has already happened or is very soon. Long distance relationships are difficult because of the physical aspect.
