What is the name of the River in this Picture?

Since some may have problems identifying where this is, here's a hint...
The white pointy thing in the upper left is the Washington Monument, with the White House partly visible behind it.
The white domed building in the upper right is the US Capitol.

This is the Potomac River, which forms the border between Maryland and Virginia, and between Washington DC and Virginia.

I don't know the name of the river. Even when I looked it up I never heard of it.

Back in my protesting days I spent about a week camped out to the left of the Washington Monument, closer to the Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pool. ( Damn hippies aren't supposed to be swimming in the reflecting pool, but we did anyway. )

The water in the upper left is the Tidal Basin. That's a pretty good hint of what the river is not, but the question itself already implied that. I was camped about a hundred yards north of the Basin, just north of the trees. Those are the famous cherry trees in a semi-circle to the left of the Washington Monument, with a mix of other trees behind them.

Sorry- the triple arch bridge is the giveaway- it IS the Anacostia River and not the Potomac.

I got DC, and I recognised the name of the river once I saw it, but I wouldn't have remembered it. Maybe I will now!

Why are they having difficulty? It's fuzzy, but I downloaded it and zoomed in and it's so obvious that's the Washington Monument.

Quite often for rivers the name translates as river river because they take the local word for river and add river on it. The River Avon is the most obvious example (Afon Avon). No idea of that river but I bet it follows the same pattern.

I thought it was Cincinnati and the Ohio but I guess it is Washington DC and the Potomac

Probably disaster, if any of those levees ever break, s why would people build a city down in the valley way lower than a big giant river? That runs through it
