But of course, a miniature can playfully twist that perspective.

Yeah, in photo class we did, and I've done that with landscapes, both natural and artificial. I can't find it right now. I took a picture of an ornamental fountain and made it look like a large waterfall in nature. But typically, I don't like to lie/deceive. But occasionally I'll take pictures like that for fun, just to see if I can make them appear completely different

Not personally, though the most common size trick for photos is probably to position the object to be magnified closer to the camera.
