Is it normal for my coffee to smell like burned wood?

It's instant coffee of the cheapest brand but it smells and tastes like burned wood, I kinda like it but still weird.

I've stopped drinking instant coffee or any coffee at home, though I like the aroma of a freshly opened jar.

I like the smell of burning wood, though I wouldn't have associated it with coffee.

Instant coffee is fine, it's the coffee at Starbucks and Neros etc. they make coffee too strong, and there are always large queues because it takes ages to make one cup.

Also I'm not all that keen on tea but I prefer it to strong coffee, and tea takes a fraction of the time to make.

I've bought the cheap store brand instant coffee but that doesn't even taste like burnt wood. I'll give you some more fat man's advice. Take instant coffee and sprinkle it over vanilla and chocolate chip ice cream

If you ever get the chance try nestle cafe de olla instant coffee. I looooove that one. Ok and maybe try adding normal temp water first to dissolve it, then add the hot water.

Yes, look up nestle cafe de olla and it will show you what it looks like. There’s other brands that make it, but this one I’ve seen at target and Hispanic stores and it’s the most common one. Basically we have a coffee that we make where we add things like cinnamon and stuff like that, well this is the simplified version and something that is somewhat trying to replicate the flavor without all the work of boiling cinnamon, piloncillo and the other things they use to make cafe de olla.
