That’s how i be. Im generally cool unless the other person is highly judgmental themselves especially if its over things they can’t control like their race or sexual orientation.

Everybody is judgmental in a way or another. It is not a bad thing to be judgmental because it is indicative that you have the capacity of discernment of what is appropriate and what is not in your eyes.
Of course, someone cannot help being born the color or ethnicity they are born but their behavior as a person of a specific color or ethnicity can be judged because a lot of behaviors are typical of an ethnic race. Germans are loud, French are stuk-up and others are superficial for example.
As for the sexual orientation, it is more of a choice than innate and can be very well be controlled.
Hard disagree on your last point.
Interesting that you think it’s something to be ‘controlled’. Hmmm
@Still-alive Well it's clear nature and nurture both contribute. (And I have no expertise on which to judge their relative contributions, so don't ask!)
@MrChinaski it’s still not something anyone else should be concerned with
I suppose if one would really be adamant about being non-judgemental, then there should be no exception. But that level of zealousness would sound quite rigid to me. I think the spirit of non-judgement is to prioritize understanding over hasty conclusions, not to refrain from judging on an absolute level
Nah if its a racist or homophobic person im not allowing them any mercy lol.
True racism is quite rare I think, xenophobia is much more common. And even if the two views may overlap, I still think it's important to treat them separately, that's what I mean with prioritiy set on understanding lol
@Maybe_Maybe_not True racism is quite rare? My daughter was 4 years old, growing up with, well, people like me, in one of the most multicultural countries on earth, and in one of the more progressive areas. Subcontinental delivery guy comes to the door, I open it, she runs off screaming 'He's black. He's black'.
@MrChinaski that describes xenophobia to me, something very instinctive!
I view true racism as a formalized, established opinion, an evolution of xenophobia. Not something purely instinctive, something elaborate instead
Well, people tend to be judgmental for different reasons, and it's usually related to personal preferences. Is it hypocritical? No, not if you're honest about liking or disliking certain things.
I try not to judge people, so long as they agree with me.
You're wrong
If exercising judgement is judgmental then yes, I'm judgmental.
