It simply means you sometimes lie. You always lie would mean that the statement that you always lie is also a lie. If you never lied than the statement that you always lie can’t be the truth so your lying. it has to mean that you sometimes lie and the statement that you always lie is indeed one of those lies. Make sense?

That statement could be a lie. Which means you don't always lie. You never said you never told the truth so that condition is valid. Just because that statement is a lie doesn't mean all of your statements are.
