I think there’s a distinction between suicide as the act itself and helping someone reach that point. In most cases, suicide is deeply connected to mental illness, despair, or circumstances that can change, which is why society puts so much effort into prevention. At the same time, questions around personal autonomy become more complicated in cases of terminal illness or unbearable suffering. The difficult part is deciding where personal freedom ends and society’s duty to protect vulnerable people begins.

That is two ends of the spectrum. Both are wrong per se because a society that lets is people exist in untreatable terminal pain is bad, and a society that allows people with significant mental illness to off themselves with no barriers is bad.

If you mean to say that it should be allowed without interference, then no. Usually the person who commits suicide does so out of impulsivity or without fully thinking things through. If they change their mind and seek medical help after having hurt themselves, the suicide attempt could leave imparable physical damage. Plus all of the psychological damage it inflicts on family and friends. It’s just wrong to let someone take their own life.

It’s not like unsuccessful suicide is punished by imprisonment (and of course successful suicide is literally impossible to punish). It’s just that they try to get you help if you try and fail.

You shouldn't even be thinking about suicide, instead think about doing things that makes you happy, try to set goals in your life which makes you love this life and become attached to it more... etc

In many countries it’s illegal for one person to tell another person to commit suicide.
It’s also illegal for one person to give another person a weapon like a rope, knife or gun which could help them end their own life.
