My car is old 2008,200k miles. It has new battery, new catalyst converter , engine oil leak is fixed, but it still drives slow. On the freeway it barely reaches 60 can’t go higher. It’s a V4 engine. When the car slows down speed in busy traffic , and I try press gas to start moving again, it starts slow.
I’ve gone so far on two small hills going up in small neighborhoods & the jeep has power drives smoothly. But I’m scared in a more higher hill going up the car won’t have power.
it needs a new cabin filter in the front engine.
besides that everything else is ok for now.
I’ve had it for 10 years & only issues I had fixed in past was the thermostat overheating , new tires, oxygen sensor, spark plugs , can’t remember what else.

I think you should take it to a mechanic. I would take it to a Jeep dealership if you can. I have a car that has a four cylinder engine and has no problem getting to 60 and well beyond.
Definitely sounds like you have an issue that has yet to be found and fixed. That is a lot of miles on a car but if it still runs it should be able to to do more than 60mph.
If oil in you car is black and smells like gasoline, it's likely piston rings are done and it's too expensive to renew them in older cars. However maybe it's some cheaper stuff like clogged fuel filter or damaged fuel injectors or some leak.
Is it ok to drive nearby tho 10 -20 min to the store or job?
What you are doing is like asking grandma to run the high hurdles. The engine is old and tired: 200K. I think it is time to either rebuild or replace the engine; it owes you nothing. Most probably, you have owned it for all its days. Might just be time to retire it and the trans, manual or auto too. Good luck!!! Sorry to say it is going to get more expensive now, with other parts starting to wear out.

Number one it's Jeep which is not made by AMC anymore number two it's a patriot so it's not really actually Jeep.

I think the AC part was replaced once too in past. The AC works fine , fresh cool air and loud stereo.
For the engine oil leak a whole gasket was replaced.
When I get off the car after driving I do smell a strong gas smell from the engine.
If you have worn piston rings or a blown head gasket the engine loses compression and does not deliver S much power. Over 200k miles on a 4 cylinder engine is a lot of miles
Engine air filter? Compression test?
2.4L or 2.0L? CVT been checked for slippage?
Are the plugs clean?
