I voted often, Mr. Rehab. Actually my mom also often complained "why can't in our home everything be normal like normal people have it". The answer is generational trauma, to cope with which you use religion, and using religion you enforce an even stronger trauma. When you beat children and drill into them that you do it because you're trying to purge their sinful nature, and forbid crying or even being emotional about it at all, then they're wired to view everyone like a violent sinner and enemy. Especially when the parents fight every day and provide zero space for your own emotions, then we retreat into philosophy and intellectual bypassing to avoid feeling the sense of "enemy" because that's also an inappropriate way to live, so then everyone feels like an object.

Never. But that's not to say i've never looked at sex as the primary motivator in our relationship. Which i do think can be equally as bad. I've admonished women about using their sexuality to sway men. It sets a bad precedence, and women that do it are shocked that they have problems when it comes to men. But a guy that thinks to himself many times, "man, if she wasn't giving up the cookie she wouldn't even be worth being with" is equally as bad.
