What is the one compliment you still remember because it hit different?

I don't remember any compliments because I do see them as clumsy flirting attempts mainly if they are spoken by men. We all know that compliments are seldom the reflection of the truth but are indeed aimed at trying to pick up that person by hinting at something personal about the looks or the way a person is dressed.

I have yet to get a compliment about my work or about something that I have accomplished rather than about my looks.

I am totally allergic to compliments and will not react to them because I know perfectly well what the intention behind those superficial compliments are.

Understood, but compliments are always nice I suppose I appreciate the effort men seem to struggle with complimenting woman especially a stranger. But if it comes someone you are in love with that makes even better. Sometimes the intention isn't always an imperfection. =)

True. However for me, I am not in a relationship or nor do I plan to be in one and therefore those compliments come as flirting attempts. I brush them off because they are always just about looks.

A bunch of people thought I studied psychology in university which I only did for around 8 months for one class in first year university, it was a mild compliment because it means I sound like a mental health worker. I believe that was what God wanted me to do with my life but I messed that goal by being immature and misaligned in my goals when I was younger. I do not know what the future holds when it comes to my career but I know that the future can change for the better in seconds.

I had a group of girls while I was in high-school approach me to ask to join a co-ed volleyball team because I was "athletic and have big muscles". The only time I've had a whole group compliment me in that kind of way.

I was genuinely floored by that compliment cos it complimented me in so many ways at once

A guy I was on a first date with said I have a very cute nose. My nose was one of the things I felt insecure about for some reason. I told him that and he seemed genuinly shoked and told me wtf no, it’s one of your best features. I’ve never felt insecure about it ever again after that.
