When I was 16, working part time at a grocery store, after a couple of months, my mom came in the store, I introduced her to the manager and he told her, "You did a great job raising Eric, you should be very proud of him!" Then proceeded to give her a few examples of how i have gone out of my way to help people, and do extra things, and volunteer to come in on days off, etc... I felt seen by an adult, and knew my mom saw me in a different light that day...
