Do you take care of your stuff?

I try to maintain all my stuff. My cars get washed regularly and waxed twice a year. I treat all the rubber and plastic parts with Armorall, maintain correct tire pressure and make sure the oil gets changed. I take care of all my power equipment as well.

My son does not take care of anything. He throws perfectly good lawnmowers away because the belt broke. He leaves gasoline in power equipment over the winter so the carburetors are gummed up in the spring. His car is always dirty.

Interesting…. I generally do. But truly I don’t own much aside from some of my clothes. After the divorce. I only took my clothes. Of course I also had a car. But I have no attachment towards these things.
car - I used to bring it to the car wash monthly. Winter after snow, more frequently. I did bring it to my mechanic for regular maintenance such as oil, fluids etc. my mechanic took care of all that.
now, hubby is very handy and likes to keep cars. other tools (yes he has a shed, and another room full of tools and boy toys lol).
he is always checking to make sure lights are good, tires are good etc.

he found a light bulb went out from one of our cars. He sent a group text to check it together and my son to learn to fix it. They search online for the right bulb, went to the shop, got it changed. They have done this before now my son, 17 is able to do it. Next week, they will work on the break pads
after the car project, they went around the house together and clear some of the shrubs. Next week when the weather gets better, my son will go up to the roof to clear the gutters under the supervision of hubby.
my so. Is OCD. So he has to make sure everything is orderly and neat. He was at my mom’s, he helped her organize her kitchen. He gets uncomfortable when things are not orderly.
the other thing is. As a family, we communicate daily regarding our wants needs. Society, social, emotional, financial updates, we sit together to discuss stocks. travels, education, careers, AI, health, they go to the gym together. I make sure we continue this family unity, value, traditions. We try our best to raise kids together … my ex is well aware of bow we rise kids. We include him with a lot of these discussions.

Unfortunately my brother lost my social security card and my birth certificate I had kept for about 50 years. He lost them when he moved all of my belongings for me.

As far as my cars... They were washed and armaroled frequently. Clean on the inside as well. I don't own a car anymore.

My home has always been kept nice and clean. Never any dirty dishes in the sink.

Laundry 🧺 was always finished by Sunday night.

Grocery shopping was done on Friday night for the entire week. And that way we had everything for a great home cooked breakfast on Saturday mornings.

I was born in one of the biggest cities in America 🇺🇸 and that makes it really hard to get my birth certificate.

Everything is done online now and I am afraid of putting my personal information on the internet.
No one knows the answers to the questions they ask except for me.
If someone stole my information it could cause some very bad things to happen to me.

I mean yeah, but I'm a little different than you. I don't wash my car, but I'll do any sort of maintenece pronto. Dirty ass car don't matter to me, but that bitch better run like it's brand new. I mean I'll clean the windows for obvious reasons, but I don't care about mud and bird shit all over my car. Waxing... I don't even wax my balls. I'm your basic inside of the car is clean but I think the mud and birdshit gives it character. So yeah... I take care of things, but I don't care about looks.

I've still got the original Social Security card I received 59 years ago! And some machinist tools that were sed by my great-grandfather around 1900. Yeah, I take care of my stuff.

@OlderAndWiser I also haven't original SSA card from when I was 7 years old. My grandfather was a carpenter and I still have some of his hand tools. I used his carpenter square just a few weeks ago on a wood project I was working on. I take care of my stuff.

This is a hot topic at my house too. I take care of things because I like them to stay nice and I don’t like to waste money. I won’t say who leaves equipment out all year round, makes rings on furniture, or who has never washed a car inside or out unless leaving the car windows open during a storm counts. I could go on and on 😠

I do. Shoes, though... I'm tough on my shoes bc life is tough on me. So if there's a pair I REALLY LOVE bc they're cute and comfy I'll buy two. Anything else -- clothes, gadgets, etc. -- last for an eternity.

Regular maintenance is what keeps a car or bike going. It's absolutely imperative for a long engine life. My car is 22 years old, has over 260,000 km, gets regular maintenance and runs fine. My motorcycle is 35 years old and still going strong.

I've never washed or had one of my vehicles washed. I get them all to at least 250k miles. I'll leave gas in equipment over the winter too and everything runs and works fine. Fuel is good for at least 6 months if you don't add any stabilizers to it.

I leave gas in the tank for two weeks and the carb needs to be rebuilt. Now I buy the expensive ethanol free gas.

Not as well as I should. At least I can say the car is serviced regularly. I take it through the car wash. It gives the illusion of cleanliness without hours of manual labour.
