Do you believe that murderers or rapists are worse people? In real life? How about in fiction?

Murderers and rapists... hands down the worst people on Earth, even worse if their victims are children. But the question that's been on my mind is which is worse?

Murder is technically worse as it means the person who was killed is gone and never coming back but rape is generally treated as worse and gets a stronger visceral sense of disgust from people.

I guess part of the reason is rape victims are alive to talk about their experience but obviously the same can't be true for murder victims.

In fiction however rapists are 100% treated as worse than murderers without a shadow of a doubt. Murderer characters are often redeemed A LOT meanwhile rapist characters are basically written as irredeemable pieces of shit with zero positive qualities.

My personal opinion would be that murderers are worse people in real life, but rapists are worse people in fiction.

And by the way the reason I didn't include a "both are equally bad regardless if real life or fiction" option is because in questions/polls like this answers along the lines of "equally" or "all of them" or "none of them" or whatever are just such cop out answers lol.

To me the point of a poll like this to make it fun and/or interesting is to make you think hard and carefully choose between two or more equally shitty options and an answer like "equally bad" just feels like such a lazy cop out answer.

If you do end up saying equally bad I wouldn't complain but I would prefer you not answer because that's not my goal here.

Rape it isn't even a question... murder or more killing has conviction while rape doesn't. If jack the ripper was just a rapist he'd not be given such nickname nor would anyone care about the mystery. Killing provokes the question of why? Rape doesn't.
Its why Epstein or Savile are pretty much the only infamous ones I can think of while murders I can think of way way more. And the only reason those 2 are so famous is cause the massive scandal of protection around them and being famous already. Meanwhile the killers I could mention were just random people who came to be known.

As a side note only male rapist I can think of that sorta is redeemable in fiction is Tate from AHS because its pretty implied that Tate was possessed not that he did it on purpose himself. As for women well they get redeemed for being rapists in fiction and reality as we are bias to like women.

I would say rapists are the worst. Obviously its not a competition. But at least for murdering you can say "that person had reasons"

Dont get me wrong, murder is pretty terrible, and it involves many unpleasant acts, but rape is on a whole different level of disturbing.

Jake's grandma was killed by robbers so when Jake grows up, he takes down those robbers for good.

Most murderers are probably sociopathic/psychopathic unless of course they killed for self-defense. But either way yeah I see what you're saying.

Yeah I can agree with this logic. Completely valid. Murder is probably overall worse for the friends and family of the person because those friends and family will feel the effects of someone close to them being gone forever. But rape is definitely worse for the person themselves.
