What's a life milestone you've accepted you'll never hit?

For me, it's owning a home and getting out of debt. With all the debt I have, I doubt I'll ever be able to hit these two milestones.

Having children. But that was a life choice.

36 years ago, I was in love with a young lady and wanted to marry her. She was the only woman ever that I felt comfortable with the idea of having children with. She left me though and I never recovered. I chose at that point not to have kids. (*) So, the two women I later dated were both older than me and both had hysterectomies. They were both previously married and had kids from those marriages. I married the second one, but her kids were grown by that point.

Technically, I am a grandfather and great-grandfather now through marriage, but my relationships with those kids are minimal. My wife was never really the motherly type. So, I exercise my parental instincts in a teaching or helping capacity such as coming here.

Despite God having tortured me much of my adult life, I was spared in one aspect. That girlfriend whom I really loved: she did not have any children herself. I would have been fine not having kids with her as long as I was married to her.

(*) There are many reasons why I did not have kids.

First, the shitstorm that we are living in I could see coming over 40 years ago. I love my kids and the only way to protect them from this was to not have them.

Second, my life (as per the growing shitstorm) was never stable enough to responsibly have kids anyway.

But the largest and final reason was this: I could not bear the idea of having a child with a different woman and looking at the child thinking "You should not be here. If my dreams had come true, you would not exist. You are a consolation prize... a parting gift."

I dont think about it and im not worried about it
Ived own many things and I have given most away
I've done most of the things I wanted to do. Im happy in life the world has changed
And that has changed me. For the better
Im Thankful greatful for having what I have worked for
But in today's world there are more important things. For me going on. Happiness is the most important once you find that. Then everything else will find you...

he has people called in older than you to share their debt free experiences… some with $500k and more debt…

he was bankrupted at 28 with 3 little kids and a wife who was about to leave him…. Now he is a multimillionaire.

If debt free is what you want you can do it. He can help…I can too but he has more credibility

I probably won't ever own a home, mainly because investing that much money into a property would require it to meet all my desires, which is unlikely unless the property costs a million dollars or more. We have everything we need already, but it is a rental, and it is too small for our needs. However, for now, that is still acceptable enough.

I’m not a lawyer, but you should consider filing for bankruptcy. Especially if you don’t own anything that’s worth a lot of money, it can really be a relief to get rid of all of that debt.
