Why would a gas station skyrocket their own prices?

So there's this specific gas station that has always skyrocketed their price compared to the average rates, it's almost always empty and their only customers seem to be crackheads and junkies, I can only assume this is a trap station, where junkies buy their drugs, I assume their high prices is to scare off normal customers or normal people but use the gas station for money laundering as well. Somehow they are still in business.

We have "Shell" gas station here which are more expensive, 2-3 % more, now ever less sine 1 Litre gas cost around 8 PLN (approx 2 USD). Even their Normal E95 (in EU) has some additives which reduce fuel consumption. In normal cars it's barely noticeable but in a 1000ccm Motorbike engine with 140 HP it makes a difference of 5-10% in range and engine smoothness.
However not all expensive gas station have better fuel and even if, it's not really economically valuable if you don't drive a sports car or Motorbike engine that runs often close to the limits.
Some of those gas stations have contracts with corporations and sell them fuel to other prices and don't want to bother with private drivers with their small 60-120L fuel tanks.

If it's a chain gas station they get their prices minute-by-minute from the corporate headquarters based on many factors. If it's an independent gas station, which would be very unlikely these days, they can set any price they want, but the profit margin on gas at gas stations is very low, usually under 1%, which is why they sell all that stuff in the store, to make up for the barely breaking even on gasoline.

Honestly, there could be a lot of reasons. Maybe they have higher operating costs, bad management, or simply don't care about competing on price.

The money laundering theory is definitely possible in theory, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just because the station is expensive and quiet. 😂 Sometimes a weirdly expensive business is just... a weirdly expensive business

Because they can. If people are willing to pay it they will charge it.

The media and corporations want you to think boycotts dont work but they do. If you dont like something a corporation is doing you are not obliged to give them money.

i don’t drive soo im not up to date on gas stations😅😅 but sounds sketchy as heck, i would avoid that place if i were u Chico!!😨
