No it comes from old English scite from old German skit meaning to separate off. Same origin as the German Scheiße.
Before shit we used cach from ancient greek κάκκη that still lives on in different forms several European lanuages
Acronyms are a modern invention
How does you keyboard have special characters?
I pasted the word from google
@purplepoppy You are a wealth of knowledge. I didn't know that Spanish caca came from ancient Greek. And FYI, I studied Ancient Greek in high school, and can read κάκκη, kahk-ay.
Good idea! Scheiße is one of my favourite non-English words,
@AviatorTom the welsh is cach from the same source, it seems widespread across Europe. English is cack and it's where you get cackhanded from.
It's just a word for poop. It's doo doo baby! English is a mix of a bunch of people's languages... like why we call pork, ham or pork on the table but it's a pig if it's alive... that's because one sort of people only called it pork on the table and another sort knew it as pig. Language merge.
@lesbologist
nope
@lesbologist
it was created because of an event
Alright, I'm all ears to get educated on this then.
@lesbologist wait few days
I mean the word "fuck" came from an acronym of 'fornification under consent of the king' right? I'm thinking you know something about shit.
The word is actually very old, dating back to Old English, but I don't know much more than that about its history.
I don't know. But back in my former job, they would occasionally send a new hire to my location to train. I told them I would put him/her through "S H I T", meaning "Special High Intensity Training"... LOL
Check this
Shit! I don't know. 😅
It stands for "Ship High In Transit" (or Stow High In Transit), a supposed historical shipping label for dry manure to prevent it from getting wet and exploding from methane gas. And that's no poop
Shit is not an acronym. Nor is it a recent word. But it was taboo from c. 1600 and rarely appeared in print. It has extensive slang usage.
When I was in college we often had SHIT night. It was sort of like TGIF except we did So Happy It's Thursday on Thursday night
Shit is when "Send Help In Trouble"
@Kelly6 Let me know when you find out Kelly
Not that I'm aware, but can't wait to see the comments! LOL
It's probably a noun or a verb
@Kelly6 You have me there, Kelly
Ship High In Transit
I’m not sure.
