Let me separate my answer.

Do girls care what kind of car you drive? No. Some will but the general belief is that a girl isn't going to gauge your car against you as a person. If you don't drive something stylish, or if you drive a car that is all you can afford, a girl wouldn't care. What are you supposed to do, save up and buy a nice car for a girl to see you in? No, girls aren't shallow about that stuff in general.

If you DO have a nice car will it be noticeable? Sure. It's a bonus, but really if you don't have a nice car it's not noticed. It's only noticed and stands out if it...well, stands out. My cars before got me attention, my car now doesn't matter. Same idea. A car is a car- just transportation to most people. If you put effort into making it into something or have a nicer car, then of course people will notice. But again, it isn't required.

Let me compare it to questions I've seen on GAG before. "Do guys only like big boobs on a girl?" Answer: No. But if you have them, of course we'll notice. Get what I mean?

I personally think that if a girl cares about what car you drive, then you need a new girl. BUT if it's not clean, then that's a problem and you need to do something about that cause no girl will want to sit in a dirty car.

Brand new Camaro? Probably not. I would think he's too much into his image.

One of the Scion Boxes or Kia boxes - No way.

BIG SUV - No - not into the planet enough.

Older BMW or Mercedes if clean - Yes

New BMW or Mercedes - Spends too much on his vehicle.

New Jetta - Yes

New VW Bug - No

Older Toyota MR3 or similar - Yes, if it's clean.

One thing I can't stand is a guy that doesn't take care of his car. If it's dirty, has knobs missing, the windows don't roll down, the air doesn't work, there's fast food bags all over the car - DEAL BREAKER.

Honestly, unless she's a gold digger she probably won't mind. The fact that you have a car is impressive enough. I don't have a car, so I always have to get picked up to go on dates. I have dated guys with very nice cars who I didn't go on a second date with because I wasn't very interested in HIM. I have also dated guys with the cheapest car you could imagine who I still really like despite having to ride in it all the time. Point is, it's more about you then what materialistic things you have. Sure a girl might be impressed if you show up with a nice car, but in the end it's really all about the person. If she like you, then you have nothing to worry about. If she dumps you because of your car, then she's not worth it anyway.

It really depends on the girl. Most women will be impressed by a nice car, but it won't at all determine whether we date him or not (unless he doesn't have a car at all because most women don't want to do 100% of the driving for dates or hang outs). I've got an old car as does my boyfriend. We're in college, not many people have nice cars. It's not to say I wouldn't feel a little pampered being picked up in a Camaro for a first date though. It's impressive, but it doesn't mean I'd go on a second date because of it if I didn't like him.

I don't care much for brand-name things, I just look for good quality and reliability -- in guys AND cars.

(1) I would just quickly look at the car to see if there was any immediate damage to it (which tells you HOW he drives) and check out the gas gauge (because I once did go out with someone who claimed to have run out of gas).

(2) A guy in a car that is too "hot" is trying to make up for something.

(3) A guy who's in a broken down wreck needs to get some other aspects of his life together.

I had an uncle who did that. He said it would help him weed out the women who values money above personality, but when he finally showed the shiny Jag to the girls and explained his reasoning, they just thought he was an oddball and dumped him. (He's in his 60s and still single.)

The fact is that you don't need a mercedes, but don't roll up in a car that smells like mac-and-cheese, generates black smoke out the back, looks like it survived a natural disaster, etc.

Funny thing is that he never comes across like that type of guy. He's very sweet and smart, you know? It'd always be a big shocker when some busty done-up nightmare would show up and treat me and the cousins like we were a pack of rodents and shoo us away from her outfit. (He really liked kids, so that was already a turn-off for him, and my cousins' cue to accidentally spill, bump, or toss something towards his new friend. We're a very clumsy pack around annoying people, lol.)

Yes, your version makes sense. The one guy I know how has a pick-up truck actually DOES get a lot of girls, however, it's mostly because they want his help moving from place to place, getting something massive from home depot, etc. He has that one for work and has a separate car for "regular stuff" as he calls it (i.e., to take his gal out to the wineries). There was a guy like that at school with me. Everybody would mooch a ride off him -- I don't know why he did it, but he'd just sort of smile and go along with it becasue he was the first on in the group with a car. Of course, it was an old VW rabbit -- shook like a leaf in the wind if it hit 40, so I personally was afraid to get into that thing, but I always thought HE was a nice guy(though sort of a push-over). Car=Scary; Guy=Sweet and Smart (& a good driver, considering!)

It depends on how old he is and where he is in his life. If he's in college, it's acceptable to have not as nice of a car as a guy who is a few years into his career or further along. If the car fits where he is in his life then I'm fine with it. No matter how old the guy is the interior of the car better be clean and it should look like he washes the outside at least every so often. I take good care of the interior and exterior of my car so I would expect the same from the guy.
