How to start talking to this girl outside of class?

I've been sitting next to this girl in lecture and we always talk before/during. I just got her number and want to start hanging/going out with her. When I got her number she said we should study together or something, which is what I was thinking of doing first...

What would be the best way to kind of move the bulk of the interacting from the classroom to outside of it? Should I kind of wait to start texting her until we've done something outside of class first, or doesn't it really matter?

No. Don't listen to anything people have told you so far... save yourself! Do not text her. Man up and call her. Be different. Don't just text her because it's easier. Call her and talk about her week/weekend then transition into asking her what she has going on this week... then say "Well how about on (the day she seems to be free) we go out to dinner at (cool place to grab dinner on campus)?" Go out, have a great time, and don't worry if she'll think it's a date or not... but after it just give her a nice hug and say you had a great time.Then after class the next time you should ask her when she would want to study with you over lunch. Give it a few days with no contact and call her again... say how you really like spending time with her and ask her out again for dinner but make it special. Something that would make it clear it's a date(if she didn't think the first dinner was a date). Not just a normal dinner. Make it somewhere along a lake, river, etc... or go into the nearest city and walk around afterward. And after this is when you should kiss her for the first time.

Do not text her ever. Not even joking. It'll drive her crazy wondering why not. If she texts you first, respond for sure. But keep the conversation minimal and the only thing you should do while texting is hint that you and her should go out again.

I've made so many mistakes with texting and it's not worth it. You think it'll help because you're talking to her more, but it doesn't. Very easy for her to get bored if you do it too much. There are only very select times I'd suggest texting first. A cute good morning text here or there... or a I'm thinking of you text.

Right on, thanks man! Sounds like a very solid plan! Only question I might have now is when we go on a second date (something nicer like you said), I should definitely push to have me drive the both of us instead of meeting up, right?

Correct. First date should just be somewhere on campus for simplicity. Then if you click well, take her somewhere nicer. You don't want to drive her somewhere for the first date and have something weird happen or you just don't get along as well as you hope...because then you have the awkward car ride home haha. Or if you don't have a car on campus, you should take the bus system somewhere. You don't have to push for it. Just tell her you know this great place and would like to take her there.

find something to ask her about via text that's related to what you're talking about in class. Then pick away at her response to find something to start a real conversation with. It should pick up from there

oh is this easy. she gave you her number she suggesting hanging out. so you got this pretty much locked down, as your walking out of class talk to her on the way out the door then say "come on lets grab a bite "an then talk with her as your walking , or text her and say "what are you up to?" if she says anything other than indicating she's super busy just say" lets hang out"

You should probably text her soon girls don't just pass out there numbers randomly ask her if she wants to hang and ask her what she wants to do if she says yes that way your not struggling or making it uncomfortable trying to find somthing to do, so... text her soon :) hope this helps

Text her now, just say "hey" and ask her to hang out.

That's actually how my current boyfriend and I did it. We talked in/after class then one day exchanged numbers and it just sort of went from there.
