My friends and I went to this guys apt. He makes a lot of money. A lot. there are about a small group hanging out that night. I was praising and playing with his dog and just chatting with everyone. By the end of the night, he actually came down and paid for my cab ride home.

He is just being nice or a bit more. he didn't ask for my number.

Yeah, he's just being a good guy here. It wasn't a date so he didn't need to walk you home/drive you home to your doorstep but he was being nice about it anyway and gave you some money for the cab. He probably didn't mind/has a high paying job
