My boyfriend's mom invited me for dinner out of the blue?

I'm very happy about it but kinda wondering what the occasion is about. My boyfriend still lives with his parents and sibblings so it's a rather big deal when I'm invited over. Any ideas? We're close to our one year anniversary.
