Boyfriend doesn't want to spend birthday with me?

My boyfriend says he needs to spend his birthday alone. Should I be upset or is this something introverts do often?

It depends.. is your boyfriend an extreme introvert? Has he been alone on another birthday to your knowledge? and does he do this for other events? (maybe ask his family if you a friends with them) If so, then let him know you care about him and respect his space :) You should not be too upset over the way he is, after all, that is one of the reasons you are together lol

It could be something else.. I don't know him, so these are just a few possibilities:

he could have othere plans and he just doesn't want to change them to try to fit you in his life... which probably means for some reason he would rather lie to you. let him know that you don't want to suffocate him and spend every second with him and that you respect his other friendships and appreciate your time apart because it lets you two keep your separate identities. When he sees that you aren't unreasonable, he will (probably) be able to be truthful about what he is up to.

i say "probably" because otherwise, he is either doing something he shouldn't be doing or has a huge problem with honesty and trust... has he allowed you to be close with him emotionally? I suppose this may depend on how long you have been dating.

lol I don't mean for you to become suspicious of him, but those were just a few possibilities. you know him better than some random person online, so you be the judge of that. good luck :)
