Do you ever get tired of being responsible?

One of my best friends has no responsibilities. She just mooches off of her mother and parties all the time. She doesn't have a job, or bills to pay... She just get's to do whatever the f*** she wants to do all the time.

In an hour I have to go to work, and I know tonight is going to be awful because it's Saturday night, and it's raining so I know we're going to be slammed. : ( I'm feeling a little jealous of her, lol.

Do you ever just want to give up all of your responsibilities and do nothing with your life?

Hahaha currently every 2 days or so I think something along the lines of:

F*** this I'm just gonna go to Vietnam or Mexico get a random low paying job I don't give a f*** about where I can just sleep in, show up sh*tfaced to and simply party my ass off till I'm like 60 then retire on a beach with my laptop and play videogames and watch movies from the wifi on some beach in the sun till I die. Oh and get a pet panda! They're cute :)

But that's an effect you get from too much work and not enough play.

There is a way. I know there is. To live f***ing awesome while still keeping your sh*t together, (without being a millionnaire). I just haven't found where it is quite yet though.

I've got a friend who is somewhat like yours. Not quite the same at all but he's seemingly always partying and always in awesome places doing awesome sh*t. His parents finance it for the most part.

Sure he's got no bills to pay. His parents pay for his studies, accomodation & food, but he's not mooch. He parties his ass off and I'm talking literally 7 nights a week, for 6 straight months, that's world record sh*t. And he somehow manages not to be a fatass even though he gets sh*tfaced every night, manages to stay on his gym schedule with daily hangovers. All that while getting a masters degree in finance(which isn't the easiest subject to master). He doesn't fail exams, but doesn't really ever seem to study.

Seing that doesn't make me jealous, it makes me want to step my game up. What goes through my mind is: "holy sh*t, that's actually possible? No f***ing way! I'm gonna try that." He lives the kind of lifestyle you see in movies, it's surneal.

Actually witnessing it firsthand just kinda opens up your world to possibilities. I want to find my way of making my life like that! I can't do what he does exactly. I tried partying every night like him, it was awesome. Best. Semester. Ever. But then I couldn't really concentrate on class and I failed all my exams lolol. Lesson learned. I don't function the same way, but there is a way! :)

I have no idea what I'm getting it at exactly, I'm just rambling on with no real point to it, guess I just wanted to share the coolness ^^ :D.

Oh that, and I disagree with the whole, "Think of how boring your life would be if you had tons of money and could do whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. You'd have no schedule and you'd tailpin into lameness and depression!" argument.

There's so much cool sh*t you can do with money people don't even realise, it's like infinite, there is NO WAY you can get bored if you're rich and creative. And you don't need a job to fix yourself a schedule, that's called willpower, which is a trainable attribute.

Eh... I kinda know what you mean. I get tired of work and bills, but I think there's a trade off.

See, when you're responsible enough you can be independent and do your own thing, you don't have to rely too heavily on other people, and less people are ticked off at you, your days are filled, there's a sense of routine, and generally more cashflow. The problem is you have responsibilities, debts, things to do, and bosses to answer, and your schedule is more rigid, and inflexible.

When you're irresponsible you have more time on your hands, no bills, no places to be, you just do what you want, when you want, and forget about picking up after yourself. However, mooching off your family means you're draining the overall quality of life in the household, it means having to answer to your parents, people generally have a low opinion irresponsible people and think them careless, selfish or slovenly. Also depending on other people's wealth limits how much money you have, and how much you can spend. (Though I guess so do bills.) I also find that having too much time on your hands can get dull, fast.

Anyway, I get tired of my responsibilities, but I much prefer my own independence and freedom to choose things for myself, to the alternative of having nothing to do, with no direction, or control of my own situation. I like knowing where my money comes from, and how much I'm getting. I like being able to spend it where and when I want.

But then again, that's me.

I didn't say you would. I'm just saying that thinking back, I prefer my responsibilities to my former lifestyle. Y'know, the lifestyle you kinda fall into for a little while in between school(s) and jobs.

Hmm... I think human beings are sometimes like this but lets face it.. Having no responsibilities sucks to... I mean I remember when I was in high school and I studied hard... and went to school everyday. Yes some days I was so lazy I called in sick for myself (because I was 18 at the time) but... that hard work made my life more interesting.

I was more grateful for the days off.

Weekends felt like Heaven to me.

but now that I'm in college and only have a few classes.. the days off seem so bland... I have nothing to do.. I'm bored all the time... and now weekends are just like weekdays.

Same with people who enjoy all the seasons... What makes people appreciate summer so much? SNOW! you have so much greater appreciation for things when they're different from the usual it makes life interesting

Eventually your friend may get tired of partying.. one day she will have to grow up to because mommy won't always exist.. and because one day she may have children or she may wake up and say "hey I need to take care of my life and make it go somewhere" and by that itme she may be older and going back to college which will kind of suck but at least she's doing it :D

so don't feel jealous of her yes she's having fun but on the weekends you can to the only difference is.. you have moderation and she doesn't I'm not saying her life is crap she may be partying it up

but remember the parable of the ants and the grasshopper? the grasshopper had nothing and the ants had all that food... because they were hard workers ! :D so don't feel jealous.. just because she gets to party all the time... she doesn't have a job so she relies on her mother 24/7.. so she can't buy her own clothes, car nothing (sadly this is where ia m now lol)

so be grateful for your job :D you'll apprecaite your days off WAYYY MORE and life will remain interesting for you.. I imagine she's bored and her only fun is partying... that's not a life to live either lol balance is key!

I think we all feel like this sometimes, I know I do! :) I'm right there with ya in feeling this way on occasion.

I have friends who mooch of their parents too, and then complain when their parent's expect them to do things like "clean off the livingroom table" or (gasp!) go buy some groceries for the night. How hard must that be? I work full-time at a stressful job. And on top of that I am working overtime plus it's our busy time of the year right now.

It can be really hard when you are at work trying to make a living, when you know you have a friend who gets to do nothing all day and get taken care of. The only thing I can say is one day that person is going to have to take responsibility for themselves. Their parent's won't live forever, so one day they will wake up to a harsh reality. Then they will be scrambling to grasp the responsibility you have learned how to deal with over time. Only they will have to learn it almost immediately because it will be too late.

But I agree, it does suck. When I start thinking like this I just remind myself of why I don't want to live with my parents. I love them, but I can only take so much! Plus I like being able to afford a car and gas to go places and be able to buy myself stuff. Whereas those friends who do nothing (at least with my friends) they have to beg their parents for money and can't always go out.

You bet I do. I'm working full time, paying for all my own bills, trying to get back into taking classes online, all while maintaining everyday chores, errands, and fitness. It gets tiring. Usually by the weekend I'm too lazy to go out and do stuff since I've been running around all week.

However being independent has been so engrained in me over the years I don't think I would like/trust relying on anyone else either...and on the upside because I'm earning money and not just being a bum, I can save it to do cool stuff like travel (which I plan on doing this year) :)

What's beautiful is that we can't truly appreciate what you are asking unless we have been living with the constant reminder of the things we are responsible for.

I would like to feel like this from time to time, but I think that responsibility is what brings meaning to our lives.

When I die, I rather have accomplished something than wasted it in meaningless parties. After watching a boondocks edpisode called return of the king, martin luther king gave a speech how lazy and ignorant people have become. All the freedoms we enjoy today is the product of blood, sweat and tears of the past and the way I honor all thise who died so we could live in peace is by giving something back to the society, set up great examples, follow principles of ethics and morality. Those party boys and girls are a waste of my time.

People get tired mentally, you see. I feel like sometimes I can put all the load I'm taking to lead my life in the way I want to, on somewhere and just rest. Just rest & breathe for a while. And of course, fantasies are all I can have when your reality doesn't allow to do so.

I ain't a kid, I had responsibilities but then my life got flip turned upside down when I was almost killed by some folk, damn shame is I've been unemployed for too long since then now. I desperately want a job again. Also you're very attractive... maybe that'll cheer you up :)

i have the same thing going on, my friend just sit on they ars playing pc game whole day, not fiinishing school, not getting a jobb. I kinda feel bad for they mother sometime. but sometime I just want to have it easy too, but ofc it can't have to work because I live on my own, sometime I miss good old days that have time to hang out.

No. I wouldn't want to have to rely on my parents to get me through life. I feel satisfied knowing that I am an independent woman who relies on no one. I love seeing my savings grow and knowing that it's all mine because I earned it. Every single penny is mine, not someone elses. I am opening a second savings account on Monday. I don't plan to look at it for at least six months. It's just directly taking money from my pay every week.

Sure but life is not really like that--is it? Do you really wish for No Responsibilities? I think that you will find life to be more enjoyable with some responsibilities and might find that you will do sexual things that you never thought you would if the man is someone whom you love?
