Making money on YouTube sounds like a hassle but I really want to try it.
Is it possible to make money on YouTube by making lyrics videos?
You have to keep in mind copyright. It's unlikely that the song you want to upload will be in the public domain yet. The lyrics have their own copyright. The music has its own copyright. The performance has its own copyright.
For example, in my country the UK, copyright on an original composition lasts 70 years after the composer's death.
Imagine Song A has lyrics written by Mr One and music composed by Mr Two. Mr One died in 1970. Mr Two died in 1990. The lyrics would still be copyrighted until 2041. The music would still be copyrighted until 2061. If they had jointly composed both the music and the lyrics, both the music and the lyrics would be copyrigthed until 2061.
In the UK, performances are copyrighted until 50 years after the performance. So imagine the version of Song A you want to upload is a cover version recorded in 2013. That version will still be copyrighted until 2063. Performance copyright also applies to public-domain lyrics/music. For example, 'Ode to Joy' is in the public domain, because Beethoven died more than 70 years ago. But, you have copyright to your performance of it for 50 years.
If you breach copyright, you're breaking the law. You could ask for a licence from the copyright holder, but I doubt that you would get it.
You need to be more specific, are you talking about typing lyrics out to songs from other artists? Or actually writing lyrics yourself and submitting it on the net for anyone to use for their music? If you mean lyrics writing, there is a wealth of info on the net how you can get your lyrics in the hands of artists who will pay you to write for them. Let me know and I'll help you out.
hey, can you check out some songs for me on Youtube? Message me for details.
I would like some details on how to get my lyrics in musicians hands
get a real job you goddamn hippie
seriously though I doubt it...
I would but...Well, I'd rather work more hours making/doing something on my own and make less money rather than having a supervisor above my head...

You can't make money from videos with copyrighted music in them. All proceeds go to the copyright holder now. Video game commentating does make you money though, PewDiePie is now a millionaire, and even the 2nd tier commentators make an honest living. I plan to start doing some video game commentating soon, even if I only make enough money to fund my passion for gaming and don't make a living at it.
What do you mean? If i had to make a lyric video of ' Let her go' by Passenger. What do i need to do?
No. Everything you upload, video and music, has to be owned by you.
And to make any real kind of money, as in enough to pay bills, you have at least a few hundred thousands subs, and consistently get houndreds of thousands of views on each of your uploads.
Come up with something original and get popular. That's how you do it.

If they were your own songs, it would be hard but yes you could make money. If you're using other peoples songs then no.
First of all you have to be a YouTube partner, then you have to own all the rights to the content included in your video.

yeah but you'll be making the money for the artist
if you put up a video that's not your own content they run ads on it and it goes to the artist, nice try though lol
