A Letter to Myself 10 Years In the Future

Hey 29 year old me,

How have your 20s been? You're still alive, I hope. You, we, have a lot to live for. For so long, I wondered what the meaning of living was, what would make me happy for the rest of my life. On my journey, I've finally started to understand, and my hope is that you have only furthered that. I hope you have cherished every moment of the past decade doing what you love. Speaking of which...

Do you still like anime and manga? It's totally sugoi, so I can't imagine why not! It's a huge influence on my writing style, and there's lots of romance, action, and comedy. You never get too old for that, and I hope you still enjoy it as much as I do now :)

How about writing? You still write don't you? Sometimes I wonder whether there's any point in going on, I can't seem to ever finish anything, and my stories aren't great, but I love it. It gives me something to do, a goal to aim for, a story to tell, characters to create. I would hate for you to give up something you love and put so much time into. So no matter how bad it seems, never give up!!!

Did you ever play guitar again? I haven't played guitar in over three months, I miss it terribly. I have a keyboard at least. Music is a huge part of who I am, both in terms of playing and listening, it picks me up when I'm feeling down, and makes my happy days even happier. I sincerely hope that it's continued to have a positive effect in your life. Whether that's recording, joining a band, jamming at home, or just listening to your favorites, never lose that passion, it's special.

Career wise, my only concern is that you're doing something you love. I, and I'm guessing you, have always preferred creative things like writing and music to mainstream careers. Sure, it won't be high living, but as long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

Lastly, and most importantly, it is from the bottom of my heart that I hope you are still with the girl I love. If you have only done one thing I mentioned here, please make it this. Life is too short to live it without love, and life with her will make you happy. I'm not an easy guy to get along with sometimes, and maybe you've improved on that, actually no, you'd better have improved! She deserves the best, so don't you forget it! Keep the flame of love alive, and you'll never have a truly sad day in your life, this is my promise to you.
