Book: It's Not About The Money

Book Bite: Because Book Reviews are Boooorrringgg!

This is one of my all time favorite books about money....because it's about our relationship to money! It's not a get rich quick scheme, or a 10-Steps-To-Whatever-You-Want book. It seeks to understand how humans relate to money on a core level and how that drive our financial decision-making. I come back to it every so often and marvel at how relevant it still is.

The first part is a general overview about money and how we relate to it as a whole, and how it affects our minds and decision-making.

The second part (my favorite) is about the 8 Financial Archetypes, or personalities. They are as follows:

Guardian

Pleasure Seeker

Idealist

Saver

Star

Innocent

Caretaker

Empire Builder

The third part seeks to find ways to balance these innate tendencies without dismissing them entirely.

I think both people who manage money well and who struggle to manage it would benefit from this particular book. I think it could also bring clarity to couples in dating and relationships to have a better understanding of their partner's strengths and weaknesses and how to work within those areas.

So, which type, or types, do you consider yourself to be at a glance?
