The Problems of Being Shallow: Definitions

After having spent some weeks on the site, I've found that many problems members have is the confusion of what they really feel (or want).

Common Terms on GirlsAskGuys

Let's take a look to some definitions of words mostly used on GirlsAskGuys:

F Buddy/Bedpal/Bedmate/Sex Buddy:

Someone a person has casual sex with

Friend with Benefits:

Friend with who a person has casual sex, with out expecting or demanding a formal romantic relationship

Limerence (or Infatuated Love):

Involuntary state of mind which results from a romantic attraction to another person combined with an overwhelming, obsessive need to have one's feelings reciprocated.

Crush:

A person a person finds to be attractive (physically, mentally, whatever); known as 'puppy love'. Also the burning desire to be with that person found very attractive and extremely special.

Friend:

Someone with whom a person has mutual affection.

Best (or Close) Friend:

Someone a person shares extremely strong interpersonal ties with.

Love Interest:

Someone seen as potential romantic partner.

Significant Other (SO):

A person's partner in an intimate relationship.

Girlfriend:

Female friend, possibly specifying a female partner with whom one is romantically or sexually involved.

Boyfriend:

Regular male companion in a romantic and/or sexual relationship.

Fiancée:

Woman to whom a person is engaged to be married.

Fiancé:

Man to whom a person is engaged to be married.

Love:

A variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection. It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, one's self or animals.

Ancient Greeks identified four forms of love: kinship or familiarity (storge), friendship (philia), sexual and/or romantic desire (eros), and self-emptying or divine love (agape).

In order for you to understand what I'm going to write about in some of my next #myTakes, you'll need to know the meaning of these words.

You might however want to revise the "4 Kinds of Love".
Philia is love for friends but also family, community and love for country.

A nationalist or patriot will love his/her country with Philia. While storge is more love because of blood relations.

A husband and wife would typically share eros initial and then over time developed philia, but love their children with storge.

Hope I make sense.
